A small, agile dragon, Gilding flies with the quavering wingbeats of a swallow. She walks with quiet, cautious footsteps, yet prepared to sprint any moment, like a cat. Her limbs and movements lack the controlled grace of her sister’s, but they are spontaneous and filled with a hidden energy. Always with a question on her tongue or her nose in a book, Gilding desires to learn all she can about the world. ‘Why’ was her favourite word to begin a sentence with when she was a young hatchling. Stories, especially tales of mystery, fascinate her as well. She enjoys observing others in the clan go about their business; even Curse’s relatively dull task of writing down records does not seem to bore her, usually eager to pester the older scribe with questions about the archives. And yet, when it comes to herself, she seems to be averse to doing anything in particular; the sleepy, irritated, lethargic nocturne she becomes during her lessons is a far cry from Gilding while she’s out in the clan camp, laughing and making a game of flying from the head of one imperial to the next. Her tricks and pranks, constructed out boredom, exhausted a number of masters before she was finally flung at the librarian. Gilding’s real passion lies in painting. Like her parents, she is drawn to art, though she seeks to create visual masterpieces rather than musical ones. She spends many hours of her free time hunched over a paper or canvas snatched from the clan’s storeroom, a rainbow of paints and brushes scattered around her feet. For her, the tedious and repetitive scratching of a quill in writing is a barren desert compared to the kaleidoscope of shapes and brushstrokes she uses in her paintings. She never allows anyone to see her creations, but she dreams that one day she might become a renowned and masterful artist. |

Wild at heart, with a fiesty tongue makes up a majority of this noctune's character. Gilding enjoys getting into trouble, mostly because her curiosity isn't easily sated. She isn't the most well-organized dragoness but the things she cares deeply about in her hoard tend to have their own precise piles.
