In Wildclaw Society it is customary that while the eggs hatch the parents are around at all times to properly imprint upon the hatchlings.
However for Nex, everything was a late struggle. Nex was the very last egg to hatch, her father being the Wildclaw with the weaker prowess was forced to hunt for the born hatchlings, while the mother brooded over them, however her father came across something more then what he could manage and got into a scrap with the supposed prey. So in hesitation he bellowed a warning call to his mate Bellona despite the situation they were both in. Torn between Nex's unhatched egg and recusing her mate from harm she struggled with this placed conundrum. She glanced around at the squabbling hatchlings struggling to still walk and listening to Nex's egg listening for any tell-tale sign of hatching, however it was uncertain. All Nex's egg managed to do was make rattling noises and once and awhile shifting. With a pained choice she left, bolting towards her mate's now louder more panicked cries. For a few fleeting moments as her parents fought to bring the prey down Nex's egg shattered after a few goes at it, she plopped out and glanced around, usually the first sight would be her parents and she would know better but instead the first sight was a magpie, who chirruped at the edge of her nest and she half-imprinted on the bird. It wasn't long before she heard great big crunching noises and her parents return. Her father bloody from the scrap and the rest of her imprint came from them. However the look of slight regret was clear on her mother's face. - This half-imprint was usually deemed a failure, however she managed to do well before the rest of the clan, only having an odd set-back of a fascination with familiars that were caught. Still feral but caged, her parents became uncertain in this as a young hatchie she made bee-lines towards these creatures and it unnerved them. Over time this half-imprint lingered and never wavered. Until she ended up becoming a Tamer in her clan before being kicked out for the failed imprint from her parents. In such punishment her father was exalted yet her mother remained. She could never go back so she set off for the nearest place. The Plague-lands. Here she encountered a newer budding clan, and they took her up almost instantly, her abilities helped the clan thrive with new familiars and from then on this has been her career path and hobby. |
