Eryn, second child of Tekaru and Selenay, was- and still is- often overlooked. When you have a sister who was possessed by the most evil deity in all of Sornieth, you kind of are second class. A few months after he was hatched, the young Pearlcatcher chose to leave the clan. He had no place in the Saeiryn Clan, except as 'the sister of Loriel' or 'the son of Tekaru and Selenay'.


His mother sent him to the Anaey Clan, a Water Flight clan which she had close ties with. He was taken in by Stardust and Cerilu, a teacher and a gatherer respectively. They raised him as one of their own, and taught him to be caring and kind. He is closer to his foster family than his real family, and doesn't really keep in touch with Selenay and Tekaru. Eryn chose to become a historian. This decision was in no small part influenced by his closeness with Brilliance.

During Night of the Nocturne, Eryn and another Pearlcatcher, the young Councillor Idaria, grew closer to each other. Idaria was researching ways for her mute brother, Athori, to communicate outside of telepathy and writing. The Historian was more than happy to help, since he was rather lonely. The life of a Historian was rather lonely, since it's very solitary, and you don't really get a lot of dragon contact. Slowly, through Idaria urging Eryn to get out more and not just spend all his time in the library, and Eryn helping her with her project, they fell in love. Eryn asked her out to the grand gift exchange on Christmas Day, giving her a special spell that he had created, one that would make violet petals constantly fall around her. They married on the first day of the new year, in a beautiful ceremony
