Nanza was conceived to a very important and influential family.. a set of rulers from a far away land. Her mother was extremely unhealthy and continued to deteriorate throughout the pregnancy. In a last ditch effort to save her, Nanza's father had the mother injected with serum which would imbue her with the powers of an animal and hopefully heal her. However, the injection simply passed through the mother and into Nanza, affecting the unborn child instead.

When Nanza was finally born, she came out a mess of twisted limbs. Her mother was declared dead only moments later. Her father named Nanza after a spider as a punishment for the serum only working on her. Nanza grew up with a mostly absent and hateful father, taught to hide her 'mutation' from the world as this mutation would have her become a slave instead of the ruler she was meant to be.

When she turned ten, a neighboring country of rulers offered a marriage proposal, which the father accepted without a second thought. She was taken away and married to Conroy, the twisted twelfth son of a ruler. For a year or so, Nanza had Conroy wrapped around her finger and convinced she was an angel, and he even started to fall in love with her. However, when she turned eleven he discovered her mutation and was disgusted. Immediately, he started mistreating her, hurting her physically and calling her ugly. He would often do this just to hear her scream and started to do erratic things just to make her cry because he liked to watch her suffer. When Nanza turned thirteen, she made a break for it, escaping into the woods.

Without a way to hide her extra arms, she came across a small village. The people there did not understand her and tried to hurt her several times, calling her a monster and a demon. Their words along with Conroy's words started to convince Nanza that she was as hideous as they claimed. She suffered in the woods, barely managing to make ends meet. Until one day she found a murder of crows, pecking at an albino one. She saved his life, nursed him back to health, and named him Melrae.

Melrae became her salvation, his white feathers were her only source of comfort. He brought her food, berries and small animals.. and kept her company at night. However, it wasn't long before word of her living in the forest reached Conroy and he sent his soldiers out after her. Nanza tried to defend herself, but she got shot in the shoulder. A furious Melrae tried to defend Nanza and was shot and killed. Nanza snapped and attacked and killed the soldiers.. but not before getting shot two more times.

She nearly died that night, her hunger and blood loss making everything hard to focus on. Until she was saved by Kan. Kan flew to her on white wings, scooping her up and taking her to his own safehouse. In her fevered state, she mistook him for an angel. When she arrived at a place which had once been an insane asylum, now converted to hold fugitives. A woman named Ammutseba treated and healed Nanza, and she started her life in this new place.

Slowly and surely, Kan pulled Nanza out of her hardened shell, becoming her first love. Together the two founded a save haven for others who were born with or developed a mutation similar to her own. Under the guidance of the aging Ammutseba, Nanza became the new healer. Kan and Nanza became the leaders of their resistance, gaining fifty followers who were loyal to their cause. Her best friend became a small Fae named Chris, and a large Bogsneak named Rhys.. both with mutations of their own.

However, their happiness came to an abrupt halt when Conroy stormed their safe haven. He started killing each one of them.. one by one, and Stole away Nanza, forcing her to watch her friends die as a punishment for escaping. One in particular scarred her, the brutal destruction of her best friend Chris. Learning of Kan, Conroy pretended to kill him before Nanza, causing her already fragile mind to shatter. Nanza managed to escape with the help of the remaining members of the resistance. Nanza, and her friend Amarante were the only two who escaped from the attack relatively unharmed.

She wandered the world alone, searching for a purpose, hiding her arms beneath a shawl and withdrawing from the world. She was pursued by Conroy's soldiers.. and had to kill more than she cared to admit. And finally she met Xafina.. a light spirited skydancer who was friendly and kind.

Through the guidance of this woman they found a new place to stay, a safehouse run by a new set of people who were following in her footsteps. And here.. she made new friends.. and started a new life. She became close with two males, Pep who had a mutation which allowed him to change the color of his scales, and Cloud, whose wings reminded her achingly of her first love.

However, Conroy's obsession extended its reach further than she had expected. Kan, whom she had assumed was dead, was quite alive and had been tortured.. his mind broken until he was a slave for Conroy. He appeared to Nanza and took her to Conroy who continued his abuse from where he had left off. He even had his brainwashed Kan join the event, and Conroy took Nanza's eyes so he could be sure the last thing she would see was his face.

A rescue team was launched to save Nanza from Conroy. Their presence is what jerked Kan's brain back into normal just for a moment. Long enough to help them escape and enough for him to beg Amarante to kill him. She did just that, granting him a peaceful rest.

The shattered Nanza was taken back to the safehouse, and slowly her friends began the painful process of piecing her together again. The slightest sound could shatter her completely, unwanted touch making her cower in a corner. However, she started responding to Pep's stories, as well as his gentle teaching and coaxing her out of her shell.

She is currently still healing.. being rather fragile.. even more so when she discovered she was carrying Conroy's child. This upset her greatly and she attempted to take her child's life.. but was unsuccessful. She then decided that it was her fate to bring another monster into the world because she was one herself. She has only told Xafina of her child.. afraid of what the others might think about the entire situation. However, when she started getting morning sickness, she had no choice but to reveal the existence of her child to her friends. Thankfully Pep and the others were free to accept her and the child she was carrying without hesitation.

She has long since fallen for Pep, however, she is afraid to act on it, since she does not want to end their closeness or ruin what they already have.

On her birthday, Pep gave her a lovely book of poems translated into braille. She couldn't help but kiss him in response, and they entered into a loving relationship with each other.
