A busy centre of clan society, OpenEyes has retained a matriarchal status among the Hydrargyrum clan even though she and the clan's founder, TwothousandYears, soon parted as mates. Nonetheless, as the clan's co-founder, OpenEyes occasionally serves as a substitute for TwothousandYears on the Elemental Council in the event of the clan founder's absence.

OpenEyes actively supports many artistic pursuits within the clan and at least attends all such events; while she has never gained much appreciation for tonal music, she does greatly enjoy strongly rhythmic compositions and poems. Her own greatest skill and passions lie in poetry. For OpenEyes, however, poetry most typically comprises kinetic sculptures that repeat one or several sets of motions; her first compositions mimicked the articulations of fae wings and crests, but she has also worked with non-draconian shapes and movements for a long time now. Most of OpenEyes' poems are powered by wind, water, light or clockwork, but she aspires to eventually create sculptures featuring each of the eleven flight elements; many pose significant challenges, but she finds Nature and Plague excessively vexing for their inability to function predictably and consistently. For her clockwork poems, OpenLight collaborates with OpenCalyx.
