Biography
Bramwell McKenzie || Captain
The laidback captain of the Firefly, Bramwell is one lazy old seadog. Perhaps not that old, but he certainly likes to complain and behave twice his age. Whenever it's convenient for him. And perhaps not quite that lazy; he just doesn't see much benefit in running circles like an enthusiastic hatchling.
Those who don't know him tend to overlook him as a nobody - some common riffraff. It really used to strike a nerve with Sterling, until he learned why exactly Bram prefers it this way. Element of surprise couldn't be any more efficient when others expect nothing from you.
And surprise it sure is, this seadog is no rookie of the seas after all. Crafty and resilient, even the largest of seabeasts best weight out their options lest they become sashimi.
Modesty aside, Bram lives by strong moral code not unlike the romanticized version of pirates. He's also the sole reason why everyone began mistaking the Firefly for a pirate ship. The jolly roger he insisted on flying certainly doesn't help either. But real pirate business is of no interest to him. Plunder, but for what reason? He couldn't care less for mountains of gold. It was all about the freedom, the change of scenery. He loved life on the open sea, free from rules and obligations. Despite diligently following both. But those were different kinds of rules and obligations.
Although their natures couldn't be any more alike, Bram has never seen eye to eye with Fidelia. It's like they're naturally drawn to conflict like a dog and a cat. Sometimes it's surprising what little issues they start a fight over. Some believe it's unresolved romantic tension, while some believe the two have their pirate's pride at stake. Rivals, as it were.
