No one really knows where Orciny came from. For all the clan cares, he simply materialized out of thin air in the most secluded roost in the lair, a spectre drawn to the blurred lines surrounding every reincarnated member. Many are even unsure of his true loyalties; a good number simply assume that he likes his roost for its damp seclusion, operating primarily for himself. Such is not a baseless assumption, for he rarely even allows himself to be seen by the general populace of Abyssal Aurora, let alone interacts with them at all. Food simply goes missing in the darkest part of night, either consumed raw or cooked with rudimentary materials stashed away or stolen from somewhere. Few have even seen the inside of his lair, for above all, he is ferociously protective of his privacy and property. Once he hid himself behind a maze of jagged stalactites, but since the clan's integration with Direfleet, he keeps his belongings in a magically-cloaked chamber inside Occuria's clock tower. Some whisper that he conceals huge hoards of treasure, or cursed artifacts of immeasurable power. He lets them whisper, for reverence is a comfortable place for him to stay.

In truth, the mysterious creature called Orciny hails from ages long past, not quite ever reincarnated but simply fueled into continued existence by a pact made long ago. In him resides a part of Etro's life force, one of the few permanent vessels for her power that keeps her from slipping out of the mortal realm. In his eyes burns conviction and a sworn loyalty that will not break for any force on Sornieth or above it. In past centuries, Orciny made his roost near Etro's chamber of slumber, occasionally communing with Venat to bring intelligence from the outside. He has lurked in the sidelines of countless events of significance, feeding information to his goddess to eventually trigger her reawakening and eventual attempt at atonement. When Spira's own power first manifested, he was the first to know, the first to speak of it. But his pact did not end with Etro's arousal. Initially, he was sent to infiltrate the clan while Etro gathered her strength, and once there, found himself fond of the place and its leadership. It would be a good base for his liege after all, and he revealed himself to Kvarenje and Kjaron. His abilities were immediately recognized as incredibly valuable, and for a long time, the phantom made himself useful gathering intel on some of the more controversial and suspicious members of the clan. Because of him, Raem was reigned in before he could traumatize new clan members with his relentless hunger for repressed and torturous memories (though Raem eventually found himself banished). Because of him, Maeveret's vocal disdain for the teachings of any other than the Plaguebringer can be curbed and channeled into more productive means. Because of him, Syphax's plot to become a conscious Emperor and rule the clan with unrivaled power was destroyed before the inevitable catastrophic failure it would have culminated in.

Etro is weakening now, an inevitable product of the unrelenting march of time. Now, Orciny's keen pact-senses guide him along the scent-trails of her leaking power tracking them unseen to the souls of those that can trace their deaths to Etro's actions. All he desires is for her repentance to be complete, and it won't be until every last victim of her intended good will that still remains out of the gods' realm is returned to life. Etro can continue to live so long as her tendrils of power are all wound back to her, and that has become Orciny's singular goal. Spectral arms grasp at bitter souls in parallel planes, sensing their motives and probing into their beings to discover their pasts. Some in the clan fear him now. Some worry that bringing volatile souls with ancient grudges from a past war into one secluded and enclosed space will end in nothing but more chaos and destruction. Perhaps they are right to fear.

Thespians are translucent beasts with the capacity to mimic the world around them. The only non-variant characteristic is their piercing red eyes, which do not adapt to surrounding colors or textures. They are useful for gathering intel on outside lands... if you can manage to catch one. They are solitary by nature and seldom make their presence known, leaving little to no sign of their passing. When danger is near they wander blindly, or take to the air, so their eyes will not give them away. Few among the plague are advanced enough in their trapping skills to claim one. Most often, a captive Thespian is killed and kept as a trophy to signify the hunter’s great accomplishment.

This subspecies is most successful in ice, water, shadow and wind environments, in addition to its homeland. When in their own element Thespians will live alone, only forming groups of two or more under a stressful circumstance, such as shrinking geographical space or heavy pursuit, or during mating season. They are most heavily targeted throughout mating season, as hunters know many pairs will nest for several days before the parents separate, and the egg becomes nomadic with its mother once the shell has thickened enough to handle safely. A Thespian egg is considered an even rarer prize than the heads or wings of adults. They are carriers of water-related diseases, as well as cultivators of parasites that require moist, stagnant environments to thrive.

____Resting casually among Orciny's collection of strange artifacts is an unassuming-looking treasure chest, inlaid with a trio of blue jewels. Stray too close to anything, however, and the chest will begin to creak open, revealing two beady, brilliant eyes peering out at you. Ignore it further and it will begin to sing a soft, haunting melody as it reaches shadowy tendrils around the nearest weapon. The rare few individuals unfortunate enough to hear this alien arrangement have come to coin a name for its singer based on the words -- Blackbox. Did Orciny teach Blackbox this song, or, more unnervingly, did Blackbox come up with it itself?
