Legend

Look at this pretty Skydancer. Her name is Legend. Born a Gemini, she communicates with ease and speaks with intelligence. But that's not the reason she called Legend. The dragons near a little village called Halvare were acting up. The whole village feared them. So Legend and the rest of the house dragons were thrown out into the wild. Maturing quickly, Legend found a love for the sky. Every morning she took to the sky, loving to fly along the side of the cliff nearby. One day in the middle of her flight, she noticed a small human child with her feet hanging over the edge. Legend froze. She hadn't seen any humans since being thrown out. She was unsure how to act. Legend landed far away from the girl just so she could watch it. The girl had started running along side the cliff with her arms out. She wishes to fly, Legend thought. Legend was laughing at the adorable creature, when the girl misplaced her foot. Legend reacted quickly. She did not hate the humans like the others. At lightning speed, Legend was under the girl and flew upwards back to the place where she'd sat. The little girl seemed to be frozen with shock or terror. Legend could understand, so she stretched her wing so it was like a slide. She waited patiently for the girl to slide off. Instead she found two small arms wrapped around her neck.

"Oh thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" The girl said. "You saved me! I knew it! There are still good dragons! Come with me! Save the village!" Legend was confused. She tilted her head to the side. "Don't you dragons communicate? The village fortune teller says a dragon is gonna attack our village. A really strong one! We call him Kyofu." Legend paused. She knew the dragon the girl was talking about. A terrifying Ridgeback fueled with rage and anger. He had accepted the fact he was thrown out as a note of war. "Oh please help! My name is Layla! I told my mom I'd find you! I've seen you fly, you know. You're stronger then any dragon I've seen" Legend had grown attached to Layla. She nodded her head. She would save this village. Within seconds, Legend was flying towards the village, Layla on her back. She smelt flames, and could already see flames in the distance. Legend sped up, going as fast as she could. She landed just outside of the village, and was met with an arrow. The arrow did no damage, but the intent was clear. "Stop! This is Legend! I found her!" Legend? Not quite a fit name, Legend thought. "She's come to save the village!" Layla said, as she slid off of Legend's wing. As if on cue, a giant roar came from overhead. Legend felt terror run through her. But she resisted her urge to run back to the trees. She rose up into the air and spoke to the sky. Immediately, rain began to pour, dowsing the flames burning the village. Legend heard sounds of water evaporating behind her. She turned to find Kyofu, a abnormally large ridgeback of the fire element, staring right at her. He opened is mouth to reveal gathered flames. Legend dodged the flames easily. She called to the animals of the sky while she flew. She asked them for their aid. Now behind Kyofu, she scratched the back of him with her claws. Kyofu roared and tried to scratch her as well, but Legend flew back, dodging the attack. She paused to look at the humans below. They seemed unscathed. Thank goodness, Legend thought. She looked back up to see Kyofu closer and his mouth opened wide. Legend froze with fear. Move! She told herself but to no avail. All of a sudden a large pack of hawks came to her rescue. They crowded around Kyofu, blinding him and unfreezing Legend. With this moment of distraction, Legend spoke to the sky again, and mist gathered above the village. She flew above Kyofu. The hawks cleared and Legend taunted Kyofu. Enraged, he turned to fly upwards. Legend flew upwards as well, with Kyofu right at her tail. They up and up until they came to a clearing in the clouds. Legend taunted Kyofu again, then took a straight down dive. They we blind to where the ground was because of the mist, but Legend could feel the humans beating hearts. So she flew downwards until the heart beats were clearer then day, and took a right angle. Kyofu, not being agile enough went head first into the ground. The mist cleared, and the people of the village cheered. Legend had won. Kyofu raised his head dizzily. He realized he'd lost and left as quickly as he could. After that, the village was renamed to Densetsu in Legend's honor. She became the protector of the village. Although she spent most of her time flying in the skies and the cliffs with Layla.
