The original clan from which the Abandoned rose, Clan Elsewhere was once a sprawling gathering of nomads who haunted the Scarred Wasteland alongside the clan of Sleeth. When resources became scarce and their patriarch ached for home, they began a long trek northward to find a more permanent residence. It seems as though they are the core of everything the Abandoned does, having more say and power than any of the hangers-on (with the exception of The Council, who technically owns their lair). Very few flaunt it, but those who can are hardly challenged.

Richter originally hails from Clan Acheulean, an Earth clan of builders and diplomats with ties across Sornieth, the son of a skilled and respected architect and a dreamer who longs to find his passion, his purpose. While he did seem to inherit his mother’s natural knack for building, design, and terraforming, in all honesty, Richter shares much more in common with his father: he has yet to find what he is truly adept at and fascinated in, a skill that he both loves and can utilize. While construction and building make ends meet, and he has earned quite a bit of respect within the Abandoned, he yearns for something much more, a greater calling that will hopefully one day catch his eye.

Given the diplomatic nature of his clan, it’s not so surprising that he would end up straying from them to push a bit further south in search for more allies at the behest of his leaders, eventually happening upon Clan Elsewhere and their peculiar patriarch. What began as a misguided effort to offer his services to a band of nomads in the Scarred Wasteland became a strong friendship, and the discovery of his second half, Mainshock, a lady who he is convinced has completed him in all ways, cemented his position in their ranks. While some arch their brows at this union, noting not only the size but the temperament differences, he is steadfastly loyal to his newfound mate and was more than willing to cut ties with his birthclan to stay at her side.

Now that Clan Elsewhere has moved to Dragonhome and joined with the Abandoned, Richter enjoys the life he has always dreamed of, having ample time to seek his passion away from the prying eyes of others. While most of his time is spent doing renovation and construction work for Clan Elsewhere--tunneling out rock, digging canals, planning irrigation systems, and maintaining the stability of their shelters--his free time is often used to pursue outside interests: poetry, cave painting, magic, gardening, and even his beloved Mainshock’s favorite pastime of “dragon watching.” The other clans of the Abandoned utilize his brilliance and myriad skills as well, and he knows no enemies even without Elsewhere’s ranks (aside from occasional tiffs about what should go where for the sake of stability, or how he’s not a good enough artist to draw somebody’s family, or the “anole incident” which was both a cooking and domestic disaster).

Friendly and extroverted, Richter may not look forthcoming at first glance, but if given an inch in any social situation, he will gladly take a mile. It’s a stark contrast to his quiet mate, though she seems to find his enthusiasm endearing, as well as his work ethic. It’s fairly obvious that nobody in the Abandoned works half as hard as he does.
