"What does it matter where I come from? Flame is my mother, Blaze is my father. Inferno is my mate, and Embers are our children."

Avernus's history is shrouded in mystery, and his arrival is an enigma. In the early days of Allura's fleet, during the appointment of the elemental ambassadors, a dragon of fire was needed to represent The Flamecaller before the Flameforger's Festival; none were present. Then, without warning on the eve of the festival, a Maize tundra dragon entered Allura's clan, found his way to the matriarch, and offered to be her sentinel of fire.

Through great suspicion on how he managed to slip into the fleet so casually, and reluctance to reveal his origins, Avernus proved a loyal - even if quiet and introverted - consort to the matriarch.

At the dawn of the Flameforger's Festival, Avernus was inaugurated as the Ambassador of Flame, and donned the mantle and signet of the Fire fleet.
