"Do what you love. Know your own bone; gnaw at it, bury it, unearth it, and gnaw it still."

- Henry David Thoreau

╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

"My life has never been an easy one. Even from the very beginning, I had it rough.

I was born all alone in the middle of the wasteland - no family, no home... nothing but the egg I crawled out of to call my own. Surviving on the brink of the Living Wound can be dangerous for a dragon, but as a lone pup it's practically a death sentence. There's always something much bigger, nastier, and hungrier than you are waiting for their chance to strike. You can't screw up or slow down for a second if you want to stay alive. Although I didn't know it then, this was the Plaguebringer's first test for me.

I was only big enough to chase after bugs and mice. If I were lucky, I scavenged whatever meat and bones I could pick from the corpses I found. It may sound disgusting, but when you're desperate and starving you can't afford to be picky. "

"Through their example, I learned how to talk and act like a somewhat functional member of their pack. At first I was treated more like a joke than one of their own - forcing me to do demeaning tricks for their measly scraps and kicking me around like a rock between their feet just for @#$%s and giggles. One of the first things that they were kind enough to 'teach' me were curses and jokes nasty enough to turn the deities' faces red.

Deep down, they were all frightened of her and what she was capable of doing to them if they ever defied her. I don't blame them for being scared; in fact, I was real afraid of her too... at first. Aeshma was truly a monster in every sense of the word. Most of us had scars from where she would lash out and claw our hides whenever she lost her temper. The wounds would burn horribly for days afterward, due to some freaky glowing acid crap oozing from her mouth and claws. By far the most dangerous thing about Aeshma, aside from her own nature, was her bite.

There were other times where... I would just feel this jolt of pure and primal fear from out of nowhere, racing up my spine. It'd be so intense that it woke me up from a dead sleep and sent me running off into the night in a blind panic. I think that it was the claw warning me somehow."
