Inheritor
Watcher
(The one who watches for those Seeking the Clan of Diseased Dynasty) "I was brought low, but through Seeking I rise above what came before."
Description
Hair: dark-haired, long-length undercut Eyes: Arcane pink, but usually hidden because of his cowl Skin: No. 16 Face: strong jaw and sharp cheekbones Body: very tall and muscular (a dragon and his familiar) Gijinka notes: I'd prefer him to have claws and fangs if possible please Personality: Inheritor doesn't smile much, not because he doesn't have a sense of humour or that he's cold, but because he's always tense and serious, waiting for someone to cause trouble. He's had to prove himself to everyone all his life. He's an intense, looming figure, as big as most Imperials, but when he smiles it's shy and sweet and his entire face softens.
Short Story:
"You're unwanted, plain and dull." Were the words his father had told him bluntly once when the little Guardian had asked why no clan had ever called for him to join them. When he'd grown older, the weight of those words had sunk in, cutting deeper than the scores across his back from his useless attempt to protect his birth clan. His father had never truly talked to him, too busy with other things, and he only had a few more disappointed insults to remember his sire by before he'd left to serve a god far from his home. "You're a burden your mother refuses to let go of, trying to uselessly protect you from the world. You, my little son, are a Guardian who never heard the Call and will never amount to anything at all." In truth, he would have thanked his sire for his early bluntness. While cruel, if not for that Inheritor would never have caught the eye of Ruuvik and his clan. He'd searched and searched the Starfall Isles for weeks on end, chasing rumours and hear-say until he was just about ready to collapse from searching for the clan that supposedly granted wishes. He never heard the falling stones, or felt the watching eyes that others had told him would predate the clan revealing themselves to him. He searched and searched and on the last day he shouted out to the mysterious leader 'Ruuvik'. "Coward!" He raged, lashing out and destroying a nearby rock formation. "Come out and face me already, I know you're there!" For a few heartbreaking moments, nothing; then... Laughter. It rose and echoed in the chasm around him, the last rays of sunlight breaking through the crystals native to the Isles, bathing the world in a pinkish-red haze. "Finally." A voice chided, seeming to come from everywhere at once. Whipping around, the Guardian found a male Mirror not seven paces away. "I was starting to wonder if that spark I saw in you was only in my mind." Circling around to stand face to face, the large Guardian shivered as the smaller male smiled. "So, shall we begin?"
.
. . Through Ruuvik's teachings, the Guardian prospered, finding new ways to prove his worth and show off his colours. Eventually, he took a name and a place in the clan as he called for his mother to join him. "Inheritor." The large male decided, looking down at his new father. "For I am everything that you have to offer the world." Ruuvik only smiled darkly.
.
. . The first meeting between Inheritor and his future familiar, Seb,was not the most conventional. While resting in a shady spot one day, the snake had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and flung himself onto Inheritor's hide, sunning himself. When the stunned Guardian finally asked what the snake thought it was doing, Seb replied with: "You look like home, so I'm sunning." Eventually, Seb would explain he used to live in a wasteland oasis that Inheritor's colours reminded him of and so that of course meant that Inheritor was now Seb's dragon, and no one was aloud to say anything about it. Seb is very protective of his "dragon-home", and will fling himself at enemies (be it harmless Leucistic Crows or towering Imperials) and flail his vestigial arms while running his mouth and hissing until Inheritor intervenes and puts his foot down, usually ending up in the Guardian fighting anyway to protect his familiar. |
