When Plague magic manifests at its worst, the result is a dragon known as an Omega. These creatures twist the viruses the Scarred Wasteland and Plaguebringer have spawned and release them back into the world at will with a 100% fatality rate. When the Omega's powers begin to develop, the clan they were born to usually suffers, none of the members understanding why so many of their brethren are dying around them.
Unless the Omega realizes for themselves. Mezzo fled her clan when her powers began to show, spending years hiding in the Wasteland trying to control them. Each step she took hurt the land a little less, and by the time she next saw another dragon face to face, there was no longer a trail of death wherever she walked. Mezzo spent much of her lonely years singing, though usually to herself. In the later years, when she had more control of her powers, she sang to animals or to the land she had hurt so much simply by existing. When the Court of Rogues welcomed her, even knowing what she could potentially do to them, they also welcomed her captivating voice. Every month the clan throws a concert together, and every month Mezzo's voice becomes the centerpiece. She smiles, she dances, and the Court dances with her, unaware how much their acceptance means to her. To them she isn't an Omega. To them, she is simply their sister, their kin, and they weep in sorrow or celebration as she does, sings for the glory of life as she does, and never once look down on her for what she did. What she still can do. And that is more precious than any priceless gem, any dragon egg, any radiant treasure this world can offer her.
