The Clan is silent this evening, the sunset unfortunately covered by a storm blowing in from the northern seas. As the last of the clouds dissipate you venture outside of the lair, relishing the soft cool breeze that is yet gently stirring your mane. The stars above twinkle softly, so far away and yet so very clear. You feel as if you could reach out and collect them in the palm of your hand. So enraptured are you of the beautiful starscape that you don't notice the immense dark shape that is perched on the edge of the cliff, enjoying the scenery as well. "It is beautiful, isn't it?" she asked, turning her head to gaze at you. Admittedly you jump, surprised by the silent way the giant dragoness can move, but quickly you conquer your surprise and nod in response to her question. She laughs, softly, a light noise for a dragon so large. "The stars look at if they could fall right out of the sky, don't they? Look, there, do you see the bright red one? They call that The Bringer's Eye, I'm sure you can guess why. And that set there is The Caller's Bolt," she points out the zig-zagged row of bright white stars that rise just above the horizon. She seems content laying out here in the gentle night, and hesitantly you settle down beside her. She smiles at you, the resumes pointing out various stars and constellations. You are sure you've never seen this dragon before, at least not out and about with the rest of the Clan. Before the night is through your head is swimming with images and stories, of gods comes to life. She bids you goodnight as the sun begins to rise over the horizon, entering the lair to sleep even as the others are starting to emerge. As you settle in to rest you realize that the reason you have never seen this dragoness must be because she only comes out at night. You find yourself envying her, and your dreams are riddled with the dragons of old. Amalie is a gentle soul, despite her large size and somewhat intimidating looks. She is entirely a night owl, venturing out of the lair following the Clan's ritual of watching the sun set. From her perch on the cliffside she watches the moon rise and the stars begin to shine through the ebon sky. She learned much of her knowledge regarding the stars and skies by reading ancient scrolls littered throughout the light territory. Each scroll she finds she brings back to the lair and carefully stashes inside the vault, relying on her Clanmates to keep that which she finds most precious safe. Because of her odd schedule she is rarely ever awake during the day, venturing out only under the cover of darkness. She has few friends due to this, but she is always eager to tell what she knows to those who wish to listen. |
