Biography

♛ MAUVAIS
the corrupt prince

When you are young you learn to twist words- learn to spin a lie like a coin in the air, hope it comes down face up, learn to keep grinning when you feel like tearing the world apart with the deadly claws and gnashing teeth of a wild thing. Princes are not wild things- housecats, maybe, or sleek birds in cages; a dynasty with all of its fangs knocked out kept on a silver leash. You would have made a beautiful predator.

You are determined to, anyhow. They taught you manners, taught you how to bow your head and smirk like you’re disappointed with yourself and scream at the world under your feet, politely. And teaching those things to a cat or a dog would be fine, but you, you are a wolf with red eyes and the devil under your skin, you are the villain your nursemaid warned you about, the one you saw in the shadows and ringing the throne.

(and he is the savior he is the hero he is the pretty young thing that you devour whole and you want, you want more than anything to tear him to shreds and put him back together

But. Instead you have work to do, masses to please, ignorance to feign when commoners come up to you with sacrifice-wide eyes and ask why the army is in their village, why they are poor and hungry and alone, why the king won’t help. They don’t recognize that you’re the king yet.

(if you’re lucky, they never will.)
(if you’re lucky, he’s the only one that could understand.)

"Mauvais's Arrival" - theme by corvidprince
The sun inside of him
rages like wildfire
and he is
gold
gold
gold
and he is
scorching the skin of my heart,
yet still he pretends
that he is safe for me to love,
that his hands are gentle,
that his fingerprints won’t be
seared into the notches of my spine.
The sun inside of him
could set the kingdom ablaze;
he knows this, he does.
And he still asks me to love him,
to face the flame.
Find me in the ashes.
