"Nothing like a white sail, a strong breeze, and a calm ocean to start the day right." ~Riptide

Like her father, Riptide feels a strong pull towards the ocean. Once she was old enough to and had gathered enough funds, she left her birth clan, obtaining herself a fine, beautiful gray sailing vessel with a large white sail that would make her father proud. Feeling wind blow under her wings and the sail of her ship she named "The Lady Tidal" as they sailed all over was a dream come true, she was completely free with no bounds. She sailed past many lands, meeting many dragons from many flights. The longest she stayed somewhere was the Lighting Flight territory for about a month or two. She learned many ways of lightning technology and grew a love for it, even getting herself volts of electricity that flickers throughout her feathers constantly, and a bulb of light.

She made great friends with a male ridgeback that was native to the territory. Eventually, he asked if she would become his mate. She played with the idea, she did love him, but she wanted to be free and he wanted her to stay forever with him. So she told him no, and was on her way again, letting the wind take her where it pleased, though she felt a small void in her heart.

She found a playful Grey River Flight that became her companion, yet there still was something missing from her life. Soon her freedom was not enough, and she was lonely. She sailed back to The Shifting Expanse, only to find out that her love had been exalted and had died in battle. Grief stricken, she sailed away yet again, hating herself for not staying with him to begin with and blaming herself for his death.

For months she sailed upon the seas, only she kept to herself when meeting other dragons, except for small painful smiles here and there, and those sad, desolate eyes.

Soon, she came upon Shadow Flight territory. She had always been warily about the area, hating the murky darkness that seemed to cloud everything and trap you in it's midst. Laughing was heard in the darkness, and glowing eyes flicked through the trees. She walked through the dark, trying to find a place to stay for the night......

"You're trespassing." Someone said, white eyes staring back at Riptide through the darkness. Riptide stared back at them. "Not intentionally, why don't you come out if the shadows and face me?" She growled, expecting the mocking chuckles that most shadow dragons were know for. The pale eyes studied her, before stepping out of the dark. It was an obsidian Wildclaw male, clearly his birth clan had been in the ice flight. He circled her.

"You're a long way from home little breeze, why don't you scurry along back to where you came from?" Another voice said mockingly, it was a tiny fae male, purple eyes with dark colors with midnight gembond.

"Shut up Ender." The wildclaw male commanded, shooting a glance towards the fae, who wandered off with a sulky look. "What is your business here?" The wildclaw asked Riptide. "I'm simply passing through, I'm in search of a place to stay for the night." She answered boldly.

The wildclaws face was unreadable. "I am Blade, protector of the Whispering Symphony clan. Follow me." He answered with a blink. The small fae suddenly appeared and rolled his eyes. "You've got to be kidding! Let her in?" The fae complained. Blade walked without casting a glance back but replied with another "Shut up Ender." Ender growled under his breath, flittering through the pale light to get to camp. Riptide followed, glancing over her shoulder now and then.

Suddenly after awhile, a large guardian female stepped forth. Her shadow eyes watching Blade, Ender, and Riptide closely. "Greetings, I am Frozen Pillar." She announced. It was clear to Riptide that this must be the clan leader. Blade walked up to the guardian, whispering something in her ear. Frozen Pillar nodded her head, then her gaze went to Riptide. "You are welcome to stay the night, we enjoy company here, especially of the Wind Flight. May I ask your name?" Frozen Pillar said with a calm smile.

"Riptide." Riptide said.

"Well then, come along Riptide." Frozen Pillar said with a smile. Riptide dipped her head and followed.

Blade followed after, face expressionless.

As she walked into camp, many dragons of all sorts watched her, blinking calmly, some looking warily at her. Riptide saw a female Coatl with gembond singing to a nest of eggs a soft, free, calming, yet slightly eerie lullaby.... It went something like this....

There is a place, not far away, where all your dreams come true. This place is happy, this place has everything you've ever dreamed of ever having or ever wanting. Everyone will welcome you with open arms, we all love you, it tis' the truth. So come forth young hatchings, break free from your shells, feel the wind beneath your spreaded wings, feel the cool comfort of the shadows, breath the night's air, taste the sky. Shout for all the world to hear, shoot for the ever-lasting sky

A male speckled Coatl came up to her, rubbing noses with her and calling her "Madame Gemme" whilst she called him "Malin". Riptide's glance darted away from the happy couple, eyes filling with tears briefly before going to an empty den that Frozen Pillar showed her to.

....

The next morning, she awoke and spread her wings, only to shriek as she saw a yellow ridgeback peering down at her. "Marvellous!" He exclaimed. Riptide growled at him. "What do you want?" She asked. "Oh my my excuse me, I was just admiring that lovely lighting skin you're wearing. It's so lovely, it looks like it's been crafted by the best lighting technologies, like mine!" He said. "That's because it was." Riptide said simply with a suspicious glance towards the ridgeback. He let out a small gasp. Really? Oh wow! Have you been to the Shifting Expanse? I've always wanted to go there!" He said with an excited glance at her. "Yes, I have- I don't really feel like talking I need to be going now..." Riptide said, trying to get past the ridgeback. "Darling wait! Surely you've learned lighting tech then? Oh wow I could be speaking to a pro- oh, oh my! I could almost faint! I'm Farris!" He said with a grin.

Riptide curled her lip at Farris. "Not in the mood, I need to be going." She growled, pushing past the disappointed Farris, suddenly noticing she was standing in a downpour.

"I'm afraid you won't be going anywhere, it's storming quite badly today- It will probably flood heavily." Frozen Pillar said. Dragons were huddled in there dens, where the cold rain couldn't reach them. Riptide sighed. "You've got to be kidding me!" She growled with an exasperated sigh. Here she was, trapped in this ugly, dark, waste land! With him.... She cast a loathing glance towards Farris, who was now uncontrollably grinning. She rolled her eyes, and spent the rest of the day inside her den, having to listen to Farris blabber on and on about how much he loved lighting technology. Riptide zoned out, into her own little world and ignored him, watching the rain pound down upon the land. All dragons were in hiding from the rain, except for Blade, who stood firmly out in the rain, soaking wet as it beat down upon his body as he stood guard for his clan. Riptide raised a brow, he was a mysterious, unreadable dragon, which gave her the insatiable thirst to learn more about him....
