Peridot Helias never knew her parents. When she was only days old, a raiding party attacked her parents' clan, and she was left in a nest carved into a cliff face. Too young to understand what she was doing, she attempted to follow her parents down the cliff and fell, hitting several outcroppings and tumbling to the ground. Clan Magistra's late messenger Andromeda found the hatchling near death and took pity, bringing her along on her journey to an allied Ice clan, who helped the magically-incapable spiral nurse the tiny mirror back to health. She returned to the Arcane clan, where she and her mate Titus took the mirror under their wings and named her Peridot Helias, after her gembound wings and the words she occasionally muttered in her reedy hatchling voice- atlas and helios.
Peridot never recovered her eyesight after the accident on the cliff face, but thanks to her adopted father, she didn’t need it. Her knack for analyzing the vibrations of the ground and the air against her fans make her excellent at navigating the world around her. So excellent, in fact, that she has become one of the most skilled fighters Grimsey had ever met, earning the nickname ‘Skyfall’ after her deadly ice blasts in air combat.
