Vespa the Inquisitive Romulus came to the lair under the guise of a nocturne, a spell placed by some unknown witch that marred his beautiful figure, and compacted it into the small, impish dragon. He was arrogant upon his arrival to the frozen lands of the Icewarden, his days in the warm, sandy regions of the Lightweaver had left him unprepared for his banishment. He came upon the LOCRIN by accident, he supposes, nearly offed by the Guard, seen as a trespasser to the grounds. But their matriarch waved them off, and offered him sanctuary within her halls. He was bitter, for sure, that he had been treated so coldly by these strangers, but soon came to realize that his crown nor his jewels meant anything in this land of ice and snow, and that none of these denizens of the lair would heed his paws. For he was a lowly commoner here, beneath all those who earned their ranks. There was one dragon who showed him some form of kindness though. Her name was Taiga. At first, he thought of her as odd; he had never before seen these strange dragons that were known as nocturnes. He thought his curse was some sort of hideous guise, not some other form. He was leery around her, but she was persistent in her kindness, and soon he found himself seeking out her company. She was a quiet, warm soul. A comforting gleam of his homeland in the cold, endless winter of the spires. ... It was after what felt like seasons to Romulus, that he finally confronted Taiga about his growing love for the small nocturne. He had, for all that time been carrying the weight of his crown as well. Something he had managed to smuggle out of the kingdom, but he had decided that it was useless to him now. A symbol of the gross, negligent leader he once was. He let the precious gilded crown fall from his claws, and at that, a blinding flash of light, and a loud shattering sound, Romulus was once again an Imperial. |
