No one knows much about Widow and her past. There's some debate as to weather Barton and Coulson know about her past, where she came from, but neither will admit to it if they do.

All anyone's sure of is that Barton went off with a few of the others to settle some... arguments... with a clan that was bent on destruction and chaos. When the others returned, Barton wasn't with them. No one was really sure where he'd disappeared to, and a few even scoffed that his own unsavory past had caught up with him and he'd deserted them. Coulson refused to believe that, and when Barton finally came hobbling back to the lair, he had Widow with him.

Everyone was a bit surprised- she was one of the dragons who the scouts had been warning them about initially.

Coulson worked his magic, however, as he'd done with Barton ages before, convincing everyone to give her a chance. After a bit, she settled in, finding her niche with Stark's gang miscreants. When that happened, everyone realized it was a lost cause to be wary of her- once that group adopted her, she was theirs and nothing would dissuade them.

Since joining up, she's proven a very valuable part of the clan. Quiet and reserved, none are remarkably close to her, but she's very good at fitting in with all of the clan when she takes a notion. Surprisingly, Lir took to her quickly, and the two spend a lot of time glaring at everyone and judging them quietly.
