The metal didn't speak to her like it had for him. Grid cooed to the steaming hulk of metal in her hands exactly as he had. She repeated his words, asking the alloy to bend for her as it had for him once upon a time but her features were fierce when his had been soft. Her voice was thick with tension when his had been soft and gentle. But still, she was her grandfather's daughter and the last of her line. The forge was her rightful place and despite the sweat dripping off her brow and the heat scorching her scales, this was the closest to home she'd ever been.
