Biography
Dageraad Body Artist Wandering Vagabonds Troupe |
Born in the Sunbeam Ruins, Dageraad left her home to travel first to the Virdian Labyrinth and then to the Windswept Plateau where, utterly exhausted, she came to earth and was found by the Summer Squalls. There, in the Squalls' tower by the edge of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, she would meet dragons with natural patterns to their fur, feathers, scales, and skin for the first time.
Dageraad had been told by her family that she was a Dawnling and could not, for any reason, risk using magic to change her appearance, but she envied these dragons of the Steppes and sought a way to decorate herself without using magic. Paints, dyes, and inks became her tools and her own body her canvas. Before long, all of the Squalls would come to Dageraad if they wanted body art, piercings, or fashion advice and she was the logical choice for Nephrite when he began seeking someone to help him start an entertainers' troupe. Her skill with make-up is unparalleled and she has a natural talent for costume design. Together, they've begun gathering talent from around Sornieth for their troupe, the Wandering Vagabonds, and dream of building a proper performing amphitheater near the Squalls' home. |

Light Subspecies: Dawnling
At the dawn of Dragonkind, the Lightweaver crafted all the Imperials from her own essence, but some were more strongly blessed by Her Light than others. These dragons seemed almost ethereal in their soft glow, and in the sun, there were none who could best them.
But this blessing was double-edged. While they thrived in the sun, they slowly wasted away when in shadow. While luminous in their simple beauty, they could not afford to use magic to change their appearance - their essences were too unstable, and they risked death or worse if they tried. And while the Lightweaver loved these children, who stood closer to her than most of the others, she also worried and feared for them, and as such, when she created the Imperials' younger siblings, the Pearlcatchers, she tried to avoid whatever mistake she had made with the Imperials - who had started to call themselves Dawnlings to honor her and set themselves apart from the others of their breed - in the past.
She failed, but her children do not blame her for it, and love her all the same.
