Lyra

Lyra was hatched with a question on her tongue "Who am I?", and from that moment the curious hatchling has had so many questions she could hardly get them all out, tripping words over her tongue constantly.

She was the first to wander out of the nest when her mother, Naomi, and her two nest mates dozed off. She followed her father, Verne, nearly out of the lair when he scooped up the talkative hatchling and deposited her with an older brother. There she saw a guardian hatchling getting ready to leave on her journey to find a charge a name and a life of her own, and got the idea in her head that she also needed to go on a journey.

"But Lyra" Her mother Naomi, Emily the Clan Matriarch, and all three of her siblings still part of her birth clan, insisted, "You're an Imperial, not a Guardian, you can just stay here" But the little hatchling insisted, and continued to prepare for a journey no one was really sure she should take.

Finally, with begrudging permission, she set out to visit the relatives of her parents, to continue to try and answer her first question. "Who am I?" Along with many other questions along the way.

Eager to leave, Lyra talked her older half brother and clan mate into taking her to the southern icefield to find the clan of her mothers parents. Naomi and Verne each hugged her tightly, and her nestmates looked on in awe, before letting her leave, trailing after her older brother.

It was a long flight for her stubby wings, but with Obsidian to guide her and help her find some tasty snacks, she was able to make the journey, talking a mile a minute the entire way. Finally they reached her mother's birth clan, and Obsidian returned home, leaving her with her grandparents.


In training, Lyra found herself trailed warily by a curious young emerald webwing.

"Leave it or kill it," Samhain instructed, Diaval grooming himself daintily at the fire dragon's feet. Rapidfeet eyed him uncomfortably, but shrugged nonetheless to absolve himself of any disagreement.

"You have Diaval, can't I take her?" Diaval lifted his head at his name, sharing an unreadable look with his partner.

"It seems you already have, if you already know their gender," Samhain replied with faint disapproval, eyeing the webwing fluttering among the trees. "Well, do come along, you should see the Scorched Forest next."

Lyra gestured discreetly to the webwing, who fluttered closer. "Come along, Emmy, I'll feed you on our next stop," she told the flying familiar indulgently, following Samhain's lead.
