A powerful, savage dragon, Aesalon hatched in the Abiding Boneyard, where she grew an affinity toward decoration with prey bones. When she grew older, her flight, made up entirely of Mirror dragons, exhausted its prey source and migrated to the Wandering Contagion. She left when she was the equivalent of a teenager, deciding to start her own Flight, and meandered for about a month before settling down in her childhood region and clearing an area for her new family. Cobalt was the first member of her Flight, a passing Tundra who became infatuated with her and pledged her his loyalty; she tolerated him, and they found an egg while scavenging at about the time her own eggs hatched. Arktouros, the orphaned Fae they chanced upon, was raised alongside Jekyll, Lubri, Surf, and Crester. Of the five of them, only Jekyll stayed long-term, and only Arktouros is a current resident; Surf was traded for a Mirror who would later become Jekyll's mate, Lubri left to start a Flight of her own, and Crester was exalted. Since that time, their Flight has grown considerably, and Aesalon is now a powerful dragon in her middle age.
Aesalon is wise and fair, an excellent leader of few words and commendable actions. She keeps the counsel of many of the clan's more experienced members, including Arantha. The Mirror who formed the Plaguewrought, Lubri, received Aesalon's blessing to use her first daughter's name (upon Arktouros' suggestion). (In recent days, Aesalon has taken a surprising shine to a certain adventurous tabby cat. She named the little girl Sinew, which seems a little too harsh for such a disarmingly adorable kitten... but some speculate the name is to save face, as Aesalon privately fawns over the kitty, and has been heard to murmur sweetly to her at odd moments.) |
