Chasmata
Winter Spy
Cunning, Distant, Loyal

"Don't try to lie to me. I can smell the deceit on your breath."

Chasmata's egg was found, not in a nest but frozen in to the side of a mountain, as though she had been hidden there once and then abandoned, or perhaps forgotten, until the day she was discovered by a scout from the winter court. Her egg dug out of the ice and brought back as a novelty find before one of the court healers sensed the spark of life within. No one expected her to actually hatch, who knew how long she had been buried there after all. But sure enough once placed in a proper nest it was only a few days before a strong and healthy tundra hatchling fought their way out of the egg, pitch black fur and shining Opaline wings still wet but quickly drying as she looked around her new home for the first time.

Of course Chasmata doesn't remember any of this. Even though she has a keener than usual memory for a tundra she was much too young to retain those first precious images. But she never tires of listening to Queen Borealis tell the story. Her unique coloring aside, it became clear as she grew older that she had many talents. Her eyesight is especially poor, but her sense of smell is an order of magnitude above even other tundra. She can smell magic, sniff out those most dormant sparks of elemental energy in any dragon right down to what kinds of spells they are most likely to cast. Rumors abound that she can smell yet more things about a dragon still, but what exactly it is varies with the teller.

She serves her queen as spy for the court, traveling abroad when it is commanded of her and bringing back whatever news she can find. Most recently Clan Saguaro has earned the interest of the Winter Court and so she has spent time observing them. However she dislikes the dry desert air, and is most content back in the icy mountains of her home flight. Fiercely loyal to all in the winter court she carries out any and all orders given by them to the letter.
