Thaum Mage Curious | Flighty | Perceptive For a long time, Thaum was an embodiment of magic, although one unable to channel the power itself. His form was loose, spread over huge distances to learn what he could of magic by watching others. A light pink mist, too thin to be seen, was the only form he had, and although he envied the dragons he watched for being able to preform the magic he studied, he didn't really want to be like them. Or he convinced himself he didn't, at least. One day, however, something strange started happening to him. Something compelled his form to start to condense, coming together into a single point and silencing his consciousness. When he could finally think again, Thaum found his thoughts were slow, and that there was something wrong with his form. No, not his form. His body. He had a body now, and it was tiny! How could he continue his research like this? Thaum was heartbroken at first, believing the only thing he had cared about had been ripped from his grasp, before he notices something else about his new body. There was a faint buzzing in the back of his head. Something that he shouldn't be able to feel. Magic. It was magic. He was magic. Now, Thaum works on all kinds of magical research and theory, taking risks other dragons wouldn't dream of. He knows what it's like not being able to feel magic running through him, and he figures death couldn't be worse than losing that feeling now that he knows it. His experiments can be dangerous, and he rarely stays on one project for long, but the knowledge he carries with him is invaluable to the clan. |
