While Knell's mother protects new life in Shenani Clan, Knell guides those to the end of their life. Or so some believe. As it currently stands, not many in Shenani Clan are sure what happens to dragons who choose to be exalted, but many who have use Shenani Clan as a rest stop on their journey. Some dragons who arrive at Shenani Clan on their journey of the exalted are elderly or ill, believing it to be some kind of death march. Others are young and strong, believing they are needed in some kind of eternal battle against the Shade. While few know exactly what happens when a dragon thinks of being exalted and meets a deity since communication is completely cut-off, those traveling do need to know how to get to the Earthshaker, and that is what Knell provides. A cheerful hatchling, Knell always somehow knew instinctively where the Earthshaker was and had some idea of what he was doing. Many adults brushed off her stories as typical idolization of the deity, while other decided she was particularly creative. It wasn't until she correctly predicted he would be in the vicinity that anyone believed her stories. |
She was polite and agreed to escort him, but returned an even quieter dragon than she was when she left. Knell began wearing white, saying the colors would somehow protect her from irritable Beastclan on her lonely journey back. When asked what happened to the old imperial she did not respond, and to this day she does not divulge any additional information about the exalted.
Despite the somber nature some dragons carry with them when they follow Knell, the guide herself is a neutral force in the clan. She treats the task with great importance, but does not appear saddened or proud when informed she has someone new to guide. Her career is treated with great respect, and even fear in some cases. The acquisition of her Shatterbone Vulture does not help her image as the grim reaper to the more superstitious dragons.
When she is not guiding exalted dragons, she is not wearing her trademarked white outfit and instead prefers to sun her crackled scales while she sews. She loves mending clothing, and when she has no one else's clothes to fix she tries to sew her own, which are almost constantly in a state of disrepair.
Though quiet, Knell is a pleasant conversationalist when someone else starts the topic of discussion. She is comfortable at home in Shenani Clan and only travels for her occupation preferring to be in the company of her own over all else.
No matter what the dragons believe to be the truth of being exalted, everyone knows when Knell dons the white hat that someone is off to see the Earthshaker for the final time.
