Hernando is basically a joke to the clan,
kept around because he's amusing at parties and is good with hatchlings
(as long as he's not too far into the clan's spirits).

He had a daughter once, though he sent her off to live with another clan,
because as a young dragon, he enjoyed partying and flirting
and drifting from lady dragon to lady dragon and had
no interest in being a father. She used to send him
trinkets every now and then and little notes, but stopped after a while.
He isn't sure if she's gone, dead, or just stopped caring.

It's pretty obvious to anyone looking closely that he's awfully depressed
and nowadays tends to spend a lot of time sleeping,
big snores carrying and little hatchlings climbing on him
while he's dead asleep.
