Nalleo's odd appearance is due to a genetic defect. It's relatively harmless health-wise but led to other dragons making fun of him as he grew up, which affected his overall sense of worth. He began learning alchemy at first to concoct dyes to disguise these white patches of fur. However, due to both the effort and expense, once he left Light Fight territory to seek out alchemical schools across the world he gave up on hiding his appearance. Many practitioners of the chemical arts are more bizarre looking than he is, anyways.

Although Mii'Vier (Adviser and mother to the Matriarch of the lair.) unsettles him, she's the most skilled alchemist of the lair, and has agreed to teach him. His familiar helps out by bringing him vials and bottles of various substances.
