"It's not that I wasn't ready for the World, no! It was because the World wasn't ready for me!"

Haven's birth was seen as a rather unfortunate one - instead of bearing bright and vibrant feathers, he bore pale ones in their place. He was expectantly weaker in health compared to his fellow dragons, and many even feared he would not survive to see the coming season. Because of a traveling healer that happened to be passing through the clan at the time young Haven survived, but his pale feathers and lack of physical strength remained. He vividly remembers the confused stares of other hatchlings and the pitied looks from their parents that were cast his way. Needless to say, Haven felt quite isolated from the other dragons, yet he shouldered on, determined to rise above their low expectations of him. "I know I fit in somewhere in the puzzle of life," he would tell himself at night, the moon shining brightly, "the World just hasn't found a spot for my piece yet." Although his memories were foggy, he never did forget the compassion that traveling healer showed him. He wondered if his calling was healing also, like that traveling healer. As soon as he reached adolescence, he spent all of his meager savings to leave his birth clan and pursue his ambitions. Much to his dismay, as he traveled around dabbling in various healing branches, poor Haven could still not find his rightful niche. That is until he heard about the ancient, but uncommon practice of aromatherapy. Desperate at this point, he gave it a try and to his relief it proved to be the missing piece of his life. Having a strong sense of smell, he was able to easily tell certain scents apart from one another, and was equally skilled in combining them to make powerful concoctions. In his quest to further his studies, he visited the Feather's Reach and ultimately ended up settling down in the quaint little light lair. Members of the clan consider Haven to be a empathetic, high-spirited dragon. Assisted by a dryad and a dove, Haven uses his prowess for healing both physical and emotional ailments. And while he is still considered a rookie, many of the clan's residents will not hesitate to seek out the coatl to provide a remedy for their troubles, and of course Haven is happy to help. Surprisingly, for as helpful and selfless as Haven appears to be he has a bit of a stubborn streak - he prefers to hand-pick his own materials and has been known to overwork himself. In addition, perhaps in compensation for his pale appearance, he is to an almost obsessive extent concerned with his appearance and would not be caught dead wearing anything but the finest gold. However, dire times call for dire sacrifices, the young dragon one day finding himself and his beloved clan faced with a hoard that was devoid of treasure. With little hesitation, Haven offered to sell his coveted golden peonies, the resulting wealth of which was more than enough to support his clan through that time. He has long since travelled to clans anew, but hopes his sacrifice won't be forgotten. |
