M U I R E N N

Primary Role: Warrior
(Too stubborn to be much else.)

'I've been fighting since I was old enough to fly,' she jokes, and everyone else assumes her wing braces are decorative, or the result of a battle injury.

Really, permission to fly despite her 'weakness' is the first thing she fought for...

Muirenn isn't necessarily the best warrior in the clan, though she's close enough for nobody to be entirely sure. She's certainly the most fearless – most of the time. She does have occasional bouts of seemingly irrational anxiety.

Of course, she also originally come from the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and like many water-born drakes, she has a bit of a prophetic gift. Nothing major. No crystal-clear visions or prophecies. But enough for her "irrational" anxieties to usually turn out entirely justifiable. More than a few drakes have learned the hard way if Muirenn is afraid, they should be as well.

In open battle, however, she is fearless. Her enemies are clear before her, her allies flank her, and the gnawing nerves of knowing whether someone is truly trustworthy are gone. There is only fighting alongside those she knows to be allies against those she knows to be enemies. Battle is where the anxiousness subsides, and so defending the outer edges of their territory is where she spends the majority of her time.

It is understandable, then, how many drakes assume her wing braces are the product of some battle injury. By now, they're not even fully wrong; even if Muirenn hadn't hatched with weak, deformed wings, a fight with several Carrioncorns last year caused further irreparable damage.

Muirenn's first battles consisted not of physical fighting, but of arguing her way into a clan which would train her to fight despite her obvious limitations.

In Clan Straif, she won.

Betazed are not known for their skill in battle; then again, they are known for telepathy, which Muirenn is unusually weak in. A rare genetic neurological disorder limits both her range of telepathy and range of movement, neither of which she has ever allowed to unduly influence her abilities as tactical officer.

Her physical movement is supplemented by the same mobility aids her colleagues use after significant injury, and as for her telepathy – well, most of the crew she's stationed with have none at all, so she hardly falls short in comparison. Muirenn can still tell in an instant if someone is trustworthy or not, which is more than enough to give her an edge in choosing allies and developing contingency plans against the ship's enemies.
