Misha was a proud father. His children, along with his current mate Keturi, had always been great and productive Spirals to the Clan. And so it did not occur to him that this nest would be any different. There were three eggs- one for the Stormcatcher, two for the Clan’s success, and on the night that they hatched Misha’s heart swelled with joy at the prospect of expanding his family. The nest caretaker Alleria took the one with Green Eyespots and hauled them off to be blessed before the Stormcatcher. There were two left, and Misha gazed down upon them. Both of them looked up at him, a beautiful female and a rather small male.
The Skydancer opened his maw to speak to them his first words that he spoke to all dragons, both hatchlings and strangers that wished to join the honorable Clan Thundercrow.
“What is it that you wish to contribute to your new family and Clan?”
The female chirped sweetly first, and spoke in her tiny voice, “I want to be strong and help protect the eggs!” Misha’s green eyes twinkled with love and nuzzled her softly. He turned to the male, expecting a similar answer albeit a bit more knightly oriented than a woman’s job of protecting the nests.
He meeped, crawling up to his father’s snout and fluttering his wings, “I want to be a magical girl!”
Misha’s eyes widened. He pulled his head back and looked at the small child strangely. He didn’t believe what he was hearing, and he stared at Keturi who was equally in shocked but shrugged her shoulders. Keturi knew that this was not going to go over well with Misha and if that was truly the child’s answer that the Clan leader would feel like a failure as a father and might even attempt to work the child out of that frame of mind.
He promptly named the female Nova for her beauty, but left the other child nameless. Until he could prove himself and forget the fantasies of being a “magical girl”, whatever that was, Misha would not let the child be named.
And so, he tried. The unnamed child did not get along with any of the other Clan, preferring to be with the female hatchlings and nesting room revelling in the pink accessories the females adorned themselves this. The entire Clan was completely confused about this, and it shamed Misha. Even Keturi could not calm him from his rage about his failure child.
And so, the Skydancer called a meeting of the Clan Elders.
“We speak of this to nobody. This child does not exist to anybody, he is not of my kin and certainly not upholding the reputation, honor and nobility that the name Thundercrow has built up.”
The other Elders murmered but they all looked at Misha and nodded solemnly.
“Than it is done. We take him away.”
The Skydancer glanced at the Spiral Meraxes the world traveler and asked him if he knew of any Clans in any other Flights that would take such a monstrosity.
Meraxes looked as if he was thinking rapidly, but held back his breath. “I have heard...I have heard that there is a Clan, in the Icewarden’s Domain. They take in such blasphemous dragons. Nikephoros is their name.”
Misha had heard of this Clan before but never really had any interest in interacting with them. “Could you arrange a meeting to gift the child with them, Spiral?”
The tiger striped dragon nodded and quickly took off out of the Meeting Hall. He did not return for a few days, however when he returned he explained to the Elders and to Misha that the Clan would be happy to take him in. He did not give them details of why they were so eager to get rid of the Spiral, however, feeling it would be best to leave them in the dark about it.
And so, in the dead of the night, Misha and Keturi took off with the child towards the Ice Warden’s domain and to his new family. Misha refused to talk, and Keturi only shushed the boy who wanted to be a Magical Girl, not saying a word about where they were going.
When they reached the start of their territory from Meraxes’ excellent directions they were met by the leaders of Nikephoros, Mohana and Vishnu. Misha nodded at the Skydancers as they landed and gave a nod to them. Keturi, being Misha’s temporary mate but not high ranking in the Clan, bowed to the two Skydancers standing before them.
She looked at the child, then back at Vishnu. “This is the child. Please keep them safe. We are unable to provide what this child needs.”
“MAGICAL GIRL! MAGICAL GIRL! I WANT TO BE A MAGICAL GIRL!”
Misha’s lip curled in anger, looking away from such blasphemy. Before the two Skydancers had a choice in the matter, the Skydancer thanked them both and whipped around, taking flight.
Keturi looked at the two with a sad look in her face, “Thank you again. I’m so sorry. I hope that they grow up strong and you are able to teach them good values. He is nameless, it is for you to decide upon their name. You are good dragons.”
With that, she left with Misha.

THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES
AS NOELANI TRICK-OR-TREAT'S AT HER OLD CLAN'S PLACE...

The moment you open the door, you find yourself uncomfortably close to another dragon, literally face-to-face with a spiral too pink for her own good. She opens her mouth wide in excitement and whips her satchel around her slender form, extending it in your direction. "MAGICAL GURL!" She shouts rudely in your face, and the mess of pink she's wearing makes a lot more sense.
Immediately the pink spiral is pulled back by an eerie-looking friend of hers, who speaks in a monotone that you're not sure is done for the sake of the holiday alone. "Why do you do this every time?" The red, mummified dragon inquires quietly with a shake of her head. She doesn't appear to have a bag, so you can only assume she's chaperoning; with such a wily spiral, you understand completely why this is necessary. "Sorry." She tells you, then turns back to her friend to whisper, "Now do it like you practiced."
Grinning from ear to ear, the spiral nods once then turns from her friend to you again. As she spins playfully in the air, shoving her satchel in your direction once more, she sings, "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat! If you don't, I don't care, CUZ I'M WEARING MAGICAL GIRL UNDERWEAR!!!" She giggles wildly at her own childishness, entertained by her own joke despite nobody else finding it amusing.
The red dragon puts her face in her claws, having no words for her friend's behavior at this point. She just sighs, taking the bag from her friend and holding it up far less intrusively. "Trick or treat." She says simply, as if to start over again.
Thundercrow
Everything was calm in the lair- Shizuri was in the leader's den working on number crunching for the day's hard work, whilst the rest of the clan that was not running the night shift was either sharing a meal or discussing the topics of the day, or the latest battles and what they'd found while scavenging. There was a knock outside the magnificent iron doors, and there was a slight confusion that ran through the clan.
Was it trick or treating already? They were so used to being absolved in their work that they had hardly ever noticed. One of the older Spiral females had taken it upon herself to be the door-opener for packages, guests and gifts slowly turned the lever that put the massive gears that opened the doors in motion.
The Shadow Spiral's eyes nearly bugged out of her head when she was met with the disgustingly pink....male...
And then it hit her as it screamed blatantly in her face- flashbacks raced through her as she remembered that fateful night when they vowed never to speak of that dragon again, the one she abandoned, the Spiral her husband Misha refused to acknowledge still existed. Keturi nearly fainted at the sight of the two dragons, as if it was a ghost coming back to haunt her from her past.
"...I...you...no, no your father can't find out you're here, take this stuff and-" As she shoved the accessories into the face of the other dragon, a loud booming voice echoed down the Great Hall.
"WHOEVER WAS SINGING SO LOUDLY IT ECHOED THROUGH THE ENTIRE GREAT HALL WILL ANSWER TO-"
And there he stood, in all his glory. The former Clan Leader, now retired to much grander purposes, stood staring pale faced in the doorway at Noelani.
He recognized the Spiral right away.
"You...how did you....no matter. Take this." He glared, a look of anger shining in his eyes that his wife hadn't seen since that fateful night of the drop off. "You are not welcome here. Take your terrible ailment somewhere else."
And with that Misha himself pulled Keturi back behind the doors, her with a terrible and sad look on her face as if this was the worst thing that could have happened to her, he angrily worked the lever so that the geared and decorated door slammed shut right in both their faces.

Then Song and I decided that we wanted to do something silly and fun, and thus started a RP kind of poking fun of shoujo anime/manga by giving our dragons personas that were rather stereotypical in the world of shoujo anime and manga. I was rather tired and didn't realize that the dragon I picked out to play the hopeless school girl that needs sweeping off her feet...was actually a male dragon XD Not really caring, I decided to further the push against sex vs. gender norms and even made her a magical girl.
And thus Noelani's incredible persona was born XD
Noelani is a pretty stereotypical magical girl for the most part, being relatively shy yet very emotional and full of heart. She holds the power of friendship close to her heart and loves the color pink. She works in her parents' bakery with her best friend, Avila, who is a less-than-average pastel goth friend of hers with the brain of a genius. She also has a sort of frienemy, Flamingo, of whom is a bit of a Yankee/bad girl that doesn't always get along with or agree with Noelani's idealistic sentimentals. I like to think of the trio as similar to Fruits Basket's Tohru, Hana, and Arisa respectively c:
I've grown to love Noelani even if she's not the norm for what I would usually create. Honestly, that might be part of the reason why. I hope you come to love this cute little spirally wonder just as much as I have!
