Ariel hasn't been much of a homebody. She's used to traveling between lairs, and isn't much for settling down. She wants to explore the world underneath her feet, not become accustomed to the familiar. She wishes she could just take off, not belong to a flight or a lair or another dragon. She wants to be just as free as her soul.

Ariel ended up at this lair by force, for Onyx wanted a partner for once. He wanted to know what it was like having someone by his side. Ariel grew fond of him over time, but she knows that he sin't really into her. However, he refuses to let her go. Ariel has been in his lair ever since, and hasn't tried to escape.

Syd was given to her by Onyx. Her familiar was stolen from another dragon, but even with the guilt in her heart, she grew to love Syd. He's mute, but a very good listener. They have learned to communicate through signing, and they haven't missed a beat since.
