Marceliene
The Tinkerer

Daughter of the former Lair Leader, Anton, Marcie is a lonely soul who envies her sister, Riannon, can't relate to her Mother, Giselle, and wants nothing more than to distance herself from all memories of the happy family she knows she once had. Now that her Father has abandoned the Lair, she keeps herself to herself and just works on her clockwork, and other metallic experiments and constructions; trying to avoid the stares of those now in power and keep attention that she does receive positive.

Marceline wants more than anything to have a "proper mate" and a loving relationship like the ones her Mother and sister now have; sadly her taste in men has thus far left her with an empty nest and a good load of pain. After a good, long while, she found solace in the Pearlcatcher, Syell. He treated her well, protected her, and for a while - she had love. Upon exodus from the Plaguelands, however, he was wounded.
The wound festered and over the course of a year, he weakened, and died. None of her children connected with her, and her feelings of lonely, detached distance are starting to make her feel as though she has no point or purpose in anything. Her clockwork creations and art drive her at least a touch, but her wistful thoughts and consuming depression are even starting to make those activities seem unappealing. Her living sculpture, Arven, at least drags her out to her own workshop often enough to force some interest, but she needs more connection if she's ever going to find a way to remain in the Lair.

She envies her sister's relationship, but can't bring herself to give her brother-in-law a chance due to the fact that Kylar subconsciously reminds her so much of her own absent Dad. As it stands, she avoids him at all costs, and its driving an even further wedge between herself and Riannon.
It would help if she could remember why she despises her Father so much, but the memory of his break from the family was so horrible, that all she now knows is that he abandoned them and began her questioning of whether or not love was something that could truly happen for everyone. She no longer remembers that it was partly her Mother's fault that relationship ended, and assumes her Father just abandoned them because he didn't love them anymore.
That thought alone is enough to make her wonder if she's too much like her Father to ever be loved. At least, not again.
This personality shift caused her heart to harden to the point where her flesh did as well, changing to an odd, almost carapace-like structure in response.

Personality: Envious, fearful, determined, bright, thoughtful
Mate: Wants so very badly to have a relationship like the one her Mother, Giselle has, but after the way her family was torn apart and after seeing all of her own attempts fall flat, she feels horribly pessimistic about her chances of ending up like her sister...
Familiar: A living sculpture named, Arven, that she rigged up with clockwork inside to keep it animated, even when its magic is running low. It's an exceedingly useful and intuitive creature and assists her in her tinkering and other creative works
Friends: Marceline's depression makes it difficult for her to keep in touch with companions often enough to have any really close friends at this point. She does have a close relationship with her sister, Riannon, but her envy and constant upset have even made that a strain...
