Aurelia

Her father was not ruthless
Her mother was not compassionate.

Aurelia grew with the words whispered around her:

Rebellion.
Tyrants.
Useless.
Cruel.

We could do better, Aurelia agreed. With every mistake of her parents amplified by half of the clan and swept away by the other - she knew. Things had to change else the only thing they would all gain would be an early death. A broken clan was nothing to fear.

Aurelia as a hatchling kept her ears listening, her mouth shut. She took note of those who were polite and those who changed when her mother was no longer present. Those who treated her father with disdain for lacking in power. She took note of the listening Fae and the one who stared on endlessly at the cauldron.

Her mother deemed them useless. His father deemed them amusing. Aurelia deemed them a part of the clan. No one could attest to being more or less. Their abilities and personalities were integral why could no one see?

Upon seeing her eldest brother exalted, leaving to the Gladekeeper because of the tension she declared her intention. She'd be the heir.

As an adult Aurelia did nothing exemplary. She spoke with many. Raised her voice to but a few. Every fault and every praise-worthy happenstance her parents did, she remembered it. A catalogue of behaviour and acceptable responses.

Ever so slowly, as Asunder spent more time out of the clan and Aurelia was the one people asked and double checked with. Teorah relented his power immediately allowing her to be seen as second. He said he was proud. Asunder said nothing; her blackouts and paranoia worsening. The corruption was spreading and with the destruction of the food stores, it was Aurelia's only chance to show she could take the place as leader.

The chance to have hatchlings appeared in the oddest of ways. Visiting the allying clan Deoradhan-Kunibert which helped with her mother's corruption Aurelia found Hale, a flirtatious Nocturne. Hale was not one who would demand and request much else from her other than the night she was visiting. More than acceptable.

Her children were strange. Two, Timea and Galen, left to serve the Plaguebringer - perhaps the influence of the Plague dragons. The firstborn, Abeni, was an interesting and different dragon from what she came from, from what she was raised for.

She did not yell or shout, she charmed and the clan seemed to flock to her. Aurelia realised that she too would be passed by, by her own daughter and finally... Finally she realised why Asunder hadn't spoken on it before.
