Biography
David - The Cursed
David is an ancient dragon despite his apparent youth. He belonged to a shadow clan that was led by a powerful fae witch named Synesth. Synesth fell in love with David and asked him to become her royal consort, but he refused.
Although Synesth was a beautiful dragon, David had no romantic feelings toward her or any other dragon. He considered himself asexual and aromantic, and chose to live a life enriched by relationships with friends and family only. Synesth was infuriated by his refusal to lie with her, and in her rage she cursed him.
Her curse was cruel - she felt that David was as cold and unloving as marble, and transformed him into a marble statue, with gilding across his frozen form to accentuate his untouchable beauty. For many years, David's still form stood at the edge of her clan's lair, as a warning to others not to cross her.
Eventually Synesth tired of the statue, becoming wiser and more accepting as she aged. Afraid to look weak in front of her clan, but embarrassed by the reminder of her youthful tantrum, she ordered the statue to be destroyed. One of her clanmates took the statue, but instead of destroying it, he transported it to the Starfall Isles, where he hoped the magic of the realm would undo the terrible curse.
Long years passed, and the gilded statue stood silent, before being discovered by the Undine Clan, who were expanding their lair. Needles, the father of the clan, liked the beauty of the statue, and ordered that it be respected.
On the day of Viktor's most notorious experiment, when Maxwell was born from the depths of his stone figure, David was also brought into life. He held every memory of his life prior to the curse, and an awareness that much time had passed. Having been alive before, he was quicker to settle into life than Maxwell, and found his new clan to be extremely welcoming and accepting.
David doesn't talk much about his life before being cursed, choosing to focus on the positive fact that he would never have found his new family if it hadn't happened. He does sometimes wish he had returned to the colours and genes from before the curse, finding his appearance a little too reminiscent of his days as a statue, but he is slowly becoming accustomed to his new look.
