Nikolai learned early on that his status a prince of the Imperium meant little if he wasn't charismatic, powerful and ambitious. No one wanted the reclusive bookworm Nikolai was in his childhood. He was bullied, shunned by his peers and family, a disappointment of the royal lineage filled with elegance, beauty and charisma. Nikolai buried himself in the Imperium's books, studying whatever was in the book that he picked up. He had allies in a few siblings that were fond of him and covered for him, but couldn't outwardly protect him from his father's ire.

Nikolai was fascinated ciphers. It became a passion to solve various codes and learn to use them. Transposition, Morse code, Substitution, he mastered them all, proficient in both encoding and decoding. When the Imperium's stifling hold and the jeers of his peers became too much he fled, running away with a vague destination in mind - a library, a place of education.

He quickly proved his worth, promoted to the second-in-command of the Head, Selim, in a matter of months. Niklai's job as the second-in-command is mostly doing the Atheneum's paperwork. Important documents can be checked and signed only by him or Selim. He encodes important messages sent to allies and among his-ranking scholars.

Nikolai is one of the most caring dragons of Willowgrove. He'd give everything he has to anyone he thinks need them, not noticing their hidden intentions since he sees the best in others. His court days left a healthy amount of skepticism and carefulness in him, but the often disregards it in favor of helping. He's always bogged down by work opportunistic scholars throw on him, something that has to often be nipped by the Head scholar himself.

Nikolai has a boyish beauty and loving atmosphere around him which charms many into his social circle. He knows everyone by name, knows their birthdays, likes and dislikes. He checks on new members often, making sure they're feeling at home. He's often jokingly referred to as Radiant's big mama, much to his embarrassment. He denies compliments vehemently and doesn't take gifts in return for his kindness being a generous soul that wants little to feel content. All he needs is his family, books and ciphers.

He has grown into an Imperial that can hold his head high and feel confident, proud of his accomplishments.His self esteem problems haven't disappeared. He has serious anxiety problems and too much socializing can cause anxiety attacks, especially loud voices and arguing.

........Leto: The love of his life. He often feels undeserving of his love Leto. The talented Nocturne was afraid of males due to her past, but the two grew close and romance blossomed. Nikolai had been deathly afraid of losing her for many years, but their mutual help on their mental problems tied them together so tightly neither believe they could survive without the other.

........Selim: Nikolai is not quite sure whether he hates or likes the man that is his brother-in-law. Selim can drive him up the wall with his laziness and carefree attitude, but also spends hours playing with cipher with him in their free time and takes care of his Leto. He is a good man and has his faults like everyone.
