Azrael had stumbled into the Guild on his last legs, barely holding on to life and incredibly malformed from his injuries. Lyrium had done what she could for the Nocturne, and that extended into Death Magic when his heart gave out.

He is not, however, like the other lifeless drones controlled by Lyrium or Keres; he retains his memories, can express emotion - he acts alive, something of intense interest to the two. He has taken the post as Sentry for the Guild following his "recovery" and formed something of a relationship with Colmanara, fathering several clutches.

Azrael does not speak of what happened to him, no one except his mate knows why he was near death when he arrived. Though the bright feathers he hoards and his hostile reaction to harpies give him away.
