Similar to Belisama, Kothar also came from the Light flight to join the water bugs. He’s a bit younger than she is, though one would expect it to be the other way around. Kothar is the one who keeps Beli from overworking herself, keeps her on a normal sleeping schedule, and makes sure her plate isn’t too full. He is much better at spacing things out and planning than she is. While they both have a desire to figure out how things work, his is based more on thought and hers on instinct.

Kothar is mellow and calm 99% of the time. He takes things in stride and rarely ever gets stressed (or at least doesn’t show when he is). He isn’t quite as outgoing as Belisama, but nearly everyone has good opinions of him. Belisama is the front of their shop and he is the “behind-the-scenes.” He doesn’t mind being metaphorically invisible, even though his bright coloring prevents going unnoticed most of the time.

The Iridescent Scaleback that has begun inhabiting Kothar’s room goes by the name of Mischief, which is exactly what he’s always getting into. Nuts and bolts frequently go missing, only to show up tucked away in a hole in the wall and guarded by the grouchy familiar. Mischief and Kothar have a strange relationship; Kothar hates Mischief, and Mischief loves to bother Kothar. Belisama loves the Scaleback for some reason, which is the only reason it hasn’t been torched yet.
