Just because Sepia dislikes war, doesn't mean she's a complete pushover. When push comes to shove, you can find her standing alongside her mate, Spinel, at the forefront of the fight. She is a quiet, intelligent queen, and most consider her a good ruler. It is very rare to see her angry or upset, but when she is, run as far as your legs can carry you. Even demons run when a good dragon goes to war, you know.

Sepia is a complete contrast to her mate, Spinel. She is very peaceful, and will always give others the benefit of the doubt. She is a fair queen, and loves to interact with those who live under her rule. She ensures that she listens to the concerns of her people and attempts to address them all accordingly, though this sometimes leads to her overworking herself.

Sepia was created from pure magic by two dragons who wanted nothing to do with her. They abandoned her soon after she first opened her eyes, in the barren fields surrounding what would later be called Columba Point, for it was known that any dragon who went there would never survive. And so any evidence of their mistake would disappear.

However, Sepia refused to die. She lived off of what she could find- even though what food she could find was far and few in-between. Very rarely, she would come across other dragons, lost on their way to another location, and she would direct them away from the area, to safety from the land that would surely kill them. She lived off of their kindness, and her helping others helped her to survive. As such, she became firm in her resolve to show the same kindness that she was shown in her youth to others, to return the favor of those who helped her to continue living, even though it seemed that even the land around her wanted her dead.

After ten days, she woke up to a small shock. She could no longer feel her magic flowing through her, but centered in one place. Quietly, she tapped the area where she could feel her magic pooling with a tiny, gentle claw. She became frightened when she heard she small 'ting' you often hear when you tap a nail against a polished gemstone. Finding a clear pond to see herself in, she was shocked to find that her magic had taken a physical form, a rectangular maw-sit-sit gemstone on her chest, right above her heart.

Not long after reaching adulthood, she came across a lone Guardian male, scarred, bleeding out and dying. With what little strength she possessed in her tiny body, she dragged him to where she was staying to tend to his wounds. He came to as she tended his wounds, and immediately attempted to attack her. She avoided his attacks, however, and instead of casting him out and refusing to help. him, Sepia instead tried to calm him, and attempted to return to tending his wounds, but he refused her help. It seemed that he did not want the help of strangers, but Sepia persisted in trying to help him, and finally tricked him into allowing her to tend to his wounds by distracting him with conversation.

She quickly learned that the Guardian's name was Spinel, and that he was in the same predicament that she was. He too, was created by two dragons who wanted nothing to do with him and was dropped off at the edge of what would be Columba Point, but not after a couple of...experiments. He was originally a Mirror dragon, but they wanted something bigger, stronger, and so he was tortured into becoming a Guardian.

Upon hearing this, Sepia was in shock. How dare someone treat an undeserving, innocent dragon like that? She vowed that she would become his new protector. Of course Spinel initially declined. He didn't need any protection, especially not from a tiny Fae such as her. There was no way she could ever protect him, he had said, she was too weak to do anything to help him. She left the grumpy Guardian behind for a spell, to prove that she was strong enough to protect him and everyone.

After five months, she returned to the cave where she first left the Guardian, but didn't arrive to the empty cave that she expected. Instead, she arrived to see Spinel on the ground, kicking and screaming, being attacked by three exceptionally large Imperials. Sepia took it upon herself to save his life once more, still feeling that she needed to protect the ungrateful Guardian. She successfully chased them off with no harm done to herself, and almost flew off after finishing the deed if she didn't hear Spinel weakly calling for help below her.

She couldn't abandon him, even after how he insulted her, even after he tried to attack her. She couldn't just leave him behind to suffer. So she took him under her wings once more, this time, tending to his wounds without any issues. As she tended to his wounds, Spinel grew unnecessarily.....quiet. After she finished, he took the time to..quietly apologize for how he had spoken to her before she had left. He hadn't intended to be so harsh to her, he had just foreseen what would have happened if he had accepted her initial offer, and none of the outcomes were good.

This new revelation surprised the smaller Fae, and she prodded the Guardian to speak more of his ability and what he saw. He then revealed that if he had accepted her initial offer to protect him, she would have a maximum of three days more to live, and she would try to intercept a sneak attack on him, causing her to lose her life. She then asked him, cautiously, if it was safe for her to protect him now. Spinel paused, staring out into the entrance of the cave and far beyond, sitting quietly for two hours before finally responding. He looked tiny Sepia in the eyes and told her that if anything, it should be him protecting her, as she would someday be far more important than he.

After this, they began traveling together. They traveled the length of where the strange magical radiation seemed to affect the land around them, mapping where it began and ended, but always returning to the cave where they met. Sepia found herself slowly falling for the large Guardian. Sure, he was gruff, and grumpy almost all of the time, but he really did care about her, and took it upon himself to take care of him. Often he referred to Sepia as his "Charge" even though he wasn't truly a Guardian. She often caught herself trying to tell him how she felt about him, but she would always catch herself, and change the subject.

Surprisingly, Spinel was the first one to break the romantic tension between the two of them, and admitted he had feelings for Sepia before she could ever work up the courage to do so. (Later, when she asks why he admitted his feeling first, he would tell her it was because he foresaw that if he didn't do it soon enough, it would have taken her five more years for her to say anything about it to him. She always smacks him lightly when he says this, but never denies that it was plausible).

The two discussed beginning a family together, then, even more quietly, their own kingdom together. It wasn't like anyone else dared enter the territory, and Sepia wanted a place where others who were outcasted like they were could rest and be taken care of. A lot of planning went into deciding where they would settle and begin their own clan. They eventually settled on centering the clan on the cave where they first met. After settling down, and setting out other settlements where other dragons could safely stay, Sepia began taking in other dragons, those who were left on the border, and taking care of them within their own borders. They came and left as they pleased, but those who stayed proved to be valuable allies to Sepia and Spinel.
