Papaver is the genus that poppies fall under.
Papaver was born into the light clan. The egg from which he hatched from, was found there in the Sunbeam Ruins. He essentially raised himself, as he had no known family. The Lightweaver watched over him and while he was grateful for that, he always wondered about his parents. Nobody seemed to have seen or known anything of them. When he was grown, he met another dragon like him. They bonded over their shared orphan status. Her name was DarkFrost. Together, they had 3 children, a daughter and 2 sons. Their daughter traveled to The Viridian Labyrinth before she was exalted to the Gladekeeper. One of their sons traveled to The Tangled wood, where he met the Shadow Binder and was quickly exalted to serve him. Their 2nd son Traveled to the Southern Icefield. There he sent a cryptic message to his father before his fate dictated that he serve the Icewarden . Papaver was happy in the light clan but alas he decided that he needed to discover what the cryptic message from his son was about.. He needed to know who he really was and where he came from.. He needed to be more than what he was.. And so he followed his son's track to the Southern Icefield. DarkFrost was not about to let him go by himself. Along the way he also found other dragons who wanted to travel with him. Like with most groups, some of those dragons stayed and vowed to NEVER leave his side, while others found other clans to join. Such is the way of the dragon born life!
The clan stayed in The Southern Icefields while Papaver searched for more information about his origins. He sought out dragons that had known his son and could possibly help him decode the note. Alas, he learned that what he had heard, about Jade serving the Icewarden was not true. He also learned that the information he had recieved about his older son was wrong too! In fact SwampyBogBeard had actually escaped from The Tangled Wood and had met up with his little brother, there in The Southern Icefields. Papaver's 'source' of this new information, claimed to be Jades wife. WIFE!?! Papaver had known nothing about his son's marriage but she knew things that he would have only told someone he trusted and so Papaver was inclined to believe her. She said that Jade had found out some things that he was, apparently, not supposed to know. One morning she awoke to find him gone. There had been a note left on the door. Papaver asked if she still had the note and if he could see it. She retrieved the note and handed it over, as a tear ran down her cheek. She swiped it away and apologized. He decided that believing her had been the right thing to do as she clearly had loved Jade. He looked over the note which was as cryptic as the one he had received. On the surface it was a 'Dear John' letter (so to speak). However, there were subtle hints that pointed to his son's next destination.
Once he was done reading the note, Delia told him that she had been asleep but had awoken to a loud knock on the door. As she got up, she also heard Swampy, shouting for Jade. She answered the door and Swampy asked if Jade was there. She hadn't had time to register that he wasn't but the question made her realize he wasn't next to her as she had jumped up. He would also have been up before her, with a knock at the door, like that. Swampy asked if he had left her a note. Again, she hadn't noticed one yet but as she shut the door, there it was. Jade's note to Swampy had also been a 'good bye' note. She didn't know what had happened to it, he didn't leave it with her and she could only assume he took it with him when he left to follow his brother. Neither one of them knew where he was going, exactly, but Swampy had been confident that he could catch Jade's trail. Papaver had felt the love in the note but also saw the hints. He knew Swampy would have probably also caught them. Earth. He was going to be heading to Earth territory, they both were. And, so, the decision had been made. He would follow. Upon returning to his clan, he told them what he had learned. Without having to announce it, everyone knew that he had decided to follow his sons to the Earth territory. Once again, the vast majority of the clan followed, as well.

It is with a heavy heart that I must go as it is not safe for me to stay here & my presence puts you at risk, as well. I want you to know I love you more than anything. Thank you for being my rock. As hard as this is I know you will roll with it, like you always do. It is one of the things I admire about you. I have also, always loved your dry humor and how your heart would outshine a diamond with no contest. You are the only ONE for me and I will miss you more than I could ever express. However, circumstances, as they are, I don't foresee ever being able to return. I am so very sorry! It breaks my heart to know that I have probably caused you pain. I want you to continue living, find love again with another mate, maybe settle down and have some children. I want you to find happiness even in the rough times. I know that this was abrupt and unexpected and I wish I could tell you about everything, but it is simply too dangerous. Be well. Be safe. Be strong and carry on.
