Aoi

After years of darkness the world was blessed by a ray of light that shown down on the world. As the clouds parted, animals slitted their eyes against the blinding light, many of whom had never seen something so bright. A mighty roar erupted from the clouds and an even brighter mass of scale and wing descended upon the Earth. Aoi, born from the Light, had come.

He looked upon the world and its cowering creatures. He saw the darkness that had become their home. Home, he thought suddenly. What was that? He looked up at the hole in the sky where he could see the blue of the stratosphere above. He had known nothing else. Cast down from its Skyward Temple, he had come to this land knowing nothing of it. The ground crumbled to dust underneath his claws, and in his mighty beard he could feel the wind, and smell the Death from it. What was this place? He knew that others of his kind, other dragons, feasted on such denizens as were found here. He could feel the land wretching as it adjusted to this setting, something that it could not do. He walked forward surveying this new place, trying to decide his purpose here. he came upon a mostly-decrepit forest with hollowed out stumps and fungi as far as his keen eyes could see. It was there that he saw Chervil, a female fae with scales so red it could have been blood. She was curled up against the tree stump that could only be her home, spinning her woodland's magick in amber sap. He looked into her violet eyes and saw something magnificent in her soul. Instantly he knew that he could not leave her to fend for herself.

He looked around at this wasted land, ravaged by war, famine, drought, and plague. A fierce protective instinct took over and he realized that this was his new home. This was his purpose. He would protect those of this Lair.
