Artemis was tired of all the misery. She had not had an easy life so far. It all started when she was taken in by the small clan after being found abandoned as a tiny hatchling. No one had any idea where the Mirror's parents were, or why they had left their child alone. Although the clan tried their best, none of them had really managed to act as a motherly or fatherly figure towards Artemis. She felt alone. As a result of this she began to turn into a rather cold and fierce dragon. After wandering through the den one day and seeing everyone so depressed, Artemis made a decision. She was going to fight the invading clan and try to take back their land, no matter the cost. No one seemed to care much for Artemis so she thought it was only right that she, rather than one of the dragons with a family, risk her life for the clan. Even though she had no friends within the clan, she was still capable of just an ounce of compassion. She was going to act for the greater good. The next day, Artemis awoke before dawn. She planned to ambush the rival clan while they slept. Creeping silently towards their lair, she was filled with trepidation but managed to convince herself that she could do this. She reached a small group of dragons that appeared to be asleep. After taking a deep breath, she struck. Chaos ensued immediately. Artemis fought with every bit of strength that she had but she was overpowered. She was severely wounded but by some miracle she managed to escape; instead of returning to her home, she fled in the other direction. Incredibly disoriented, she had no idea that she was going the wrong way. She was just trying to survive. The wounded Mirror eventually took flight, as she was struggling to walk. However, she had suffered a deep scratch to her face and her eyesight was poor. She flew and flew, not being able to see anyone who could help. Eventually, she became exhausted and was forced to land. She touched down at The Estate and passed out almost immediately. When she came to, she found herself in a large roost. Despite its size, it seemed to be Fae-made. After resting quietly for several minutes, she heard a fluttering of small wings. "Oh, you're awake!" Gemini exclaimed joyfully. "My Spiral friend carried you up into this roost yesterday and I've been taking care of you ever since. What happened?" Artemis herself was still trying to piece together the events. She managed to explain her story to Gemini, who was shocked by the whole affair. Throughout the whole time she was speaking, the Fae was inspecting her wounds and bandages and casting a few healing spells. After finishing her tale Artemis became quiet. She was shocked that this stranger would go to such lengths to look after her and heal her wounds. Filled with gratitude, she thanked Gemini profusely. Over the coming weeks, Gemini continued to care for Artemis and the pair got to know each other well. Apart from Rabot, there weren't any other dragons around so the couple spent a lot of time together, sharing stories and exploring the island. Artemis decided she could not return to her old clan. However, she felt guilty that she had not been able to help change their fortune. She often wondered what was happening to them and whether they were ok. Gemini kindly assured her that there was probably not much she could have done alone, and that it was alright to want a fresh start. Artemis was thankful for his sweet words; she could tell she was beginning to fall for him. After a short while, the two became a mated pair and they decided to go forth and lead a new clan. Artemis is a strong leader. She is well-liked for her loyalty and devotion to her clan. When necessary, she adopts a no-nonsense attitude and is good at having difficult conversations that some might have trouble with. Despite initially appearing quite ruthless, everyone knows that she has a good heart. She will always remain grateful for her second chance at life and the happiness that this little island has brought her. As well as being the matriarch of The Estate, Artemis (along with Gemini) gathers most of the meat and insects for the clan. She is also still a fighter, and leads defence efforts when required. 1 of 4 non-exalted dragons with these colours. |
