Biography
There's something unnerving about the mysterious pearlcatcher known as Styx. He's beautiful but cold, as if etched from marble, wonderfully seductive and persuasive and yet off all the same. Is it all part of the act? Is it an act at all? Styx collects rarities, oddities, the strangest things to be found throughout the known world. Maps of cities that never existed. Animals that shouldn't exist, but do. Pieces from games that no one living remembers how to play. Puzzle boxes that can only be opened by the right person, on the right day, with stranger things yet inside. No one knows where Styx came from. No one knew him as a youth. Yet he's been everywhere, has connections in every part of Sornieth, and can find anything for you--for the right price. He keeps to himself, gathering his treasures in his House of the Fantastic, and then disappearing for months at a time to venture out into the world and retrieve new wonders. The House is always changing, never stagnant. If you're lucky enough to find the House twice, don't expect to see more of the same. That simply wouldn't do. Even the House itself changes, the halls never the same length, that left turn never quite leading you to the same room as it did before. The only constant to the House is the way to find it: the Rue d'Auseil and the smell of rain. If you let that seductive voice lure you in, prepare for a night of amazement. You could wander through the House for a week and not see everything Styx has to show you. Admission is never just treasure--or at least, not the sort of treasure you might expect. The forgotten stub of a ticket left in your pocket, the shiny stone you found on the cobblestones an hour ago, or the beautiful jewelled comb you bought as a gift in the market; Styx alone sets the price, and his decision is firm. Unless of course, you take his other offer. Would you like to play a game?
