Hedyphane took a new name and a new life when she came into the clan. Only Bloodstone, the leader, and Marble, who gave her refuge for the first few days, knew her whole story.

She hid it well, the thoughts and feelings that filled her when she saw other Guardians with their charges, content and happy. She was like that once, too. Was a Guardian. And had someone to take care of. Had.

She put it away as far and as deep as she could and found a new beginning - in another clan and another body. A local dragon, someone others have called a trickster, helped her shed her old life almost for free - perhaps he also used to be someone else before. Luck - that's what her name was before, such irony - stayed on the island with the Forgotten Keep clan, finding unexpected comfort in keeping count of treasure and writing up complicated accounts of expenses and incomes. She left again, unable to keep still - a searching Guardian's mind in a body of a restless Skydancer could never stay long in one place.

Luck travelled through all Sornieth, living in one clan or another, but never getting friendly with her hosts, always keeping her distance, never letting anyone get too close. She would set up a small trading cart on the outskirts of the clan's territories, entertain local dragons with exotic and peculiar goods from all over Sornieth, and count up the treasure she got in return. And then she will pack and be off again, with more memories, more items to trade and more gold.

Her travels led her to the Sunbeam Ruins and a peculiar clan full of dragons so different from each other it was a wonder no one got killed, led by a Shadow Guardian with a young face and such an old, old mind. Luck thought, maybe she'll stay there for a while.

But Hedyphane found her home.

She oversees all trades and exchanges that happen in the clan, keeps records of expenses and earnings and keeps track of resources and food. She is completely in her element, surrounded by treasure, both real, tangible gold and scribbled numbers on paper that make no sense to others but almost sing to her. She knows where every single coin went, how much food the clan needs to buy on top of what is acquired by hunters and fishers, and if there is enough to clear out more lair space and build shelter. All merchants of the clan report to her, and there has never been more order, both on the papers and in reality, than since Hedyphane took the finances into her own hands. She feels the gratitude, and she sees the results of her labor.

For the first time in her life, she actually considers herself lucky.
