Onyxscale

The only hatchling of Hemi and Brinkley that remained in clan, he got tangled into middle of storm between the two. Shunned by his father for abandoning magic and avoided by mother, Onyxscale grew up to be independent and closed dragon. He's valued by Octavia as competent fighter, though he prefers to support others in combat rather than carry its weight.
Closest friends with Coil. They both share unanswered affection toward Octavia. They also admire new protector of lair, Molnum, but she is far from giving them cold shoulder.

- So? I bet your parents were proud when you brought that Serthis to nest.
- Eh, I don't know. Dad would be proud no matter what and mom is just constantly worried.
- Well, she cares for you and Dari.
- Yeah, I know we're the only ones that stayed in nest. Still, I guess that's the problem
Onyxscale looked surprised at his friend. Coil was all gloomy lately and even now, in the wilderness, he was diving deep in dark thoughts leaving the scouting to his companions.
- Problem?
- Well, it wasn't me, you know? I just mended your wounds and waited for opening. It was all you. And Octavia, of course he bowed politely toward large female effortlessly fly-jumping between stones they were climbing with Onyxscale, but she didn't respond, as a silent guardian she was.
Onyxscale sighed, it looked like despite his colours he got the role of most cheerful of their trio.
- I bet your old guys are proud, tho.
- Eeh...
- Eeh? Coil stopped on his way and looked keenly at his nest-friend, finally snapping out of his bad mood and focusing on friend he neglected lately.
- Well, I guess dad never forgave me I gave up on magic. And mom... well, she tried. But, you know... things happened between them. And now I smell like enemy, I guess.
- Wow. I didn't know. They act like everything's all right around mom.
- I don't know, I guess it is. I don't know how to sniff it.
Coil wanted to respond, but roar of warning from female accompanying them interrupted the discussion. Onyxscale descended to take his place on her left wing, while other male quickly climbed higher to find good observation point. Fight broke out moments later.

- THEY DID WHAT?!
The hall would go silent if not uncontrollable giggle from Mother and Gaou. This time Brinkley was far from being lenient and she scanned the surroundings for tundra to unload her anger on. Obvious targets, Onyxscale and Coil, were cowering among rest of the group. Even though large portion of clan appeared, sniffing for amusement, hall was mainly taken by massive Ridgeback. Molnum, somehow being capable of taking stance both defiant and timid, was nuzzling a batch of eggs in her lair.
- Who thought that would be a good idea?! How even?!
- Molnum, you know how to take care of them? Cameoleopardis gently interrupted her best friend, approaching the nest with her mate.
- I laid eggs before... her first instinct was to protect her unhatched children, but she allowed pair of tundras come closer ...once.
- Well, we will help, of course Mother nodded.
- What?! Who... How do you even know whose they are?! She may be...
- They're... well, not from outside Onyxscale stated diplomatically, giving an unsure glare to Coil. Other male squirmed uncomfortably.
- WHAT?!
- Aww, they smell like Onyxscale! this time Gaou broke Brinkley's rage Coil, you need to try harder.
- Daaaad!
- Well, it is settled, then. Tell us if you'll need anything, Molnum Cameoleopardis turned around and started shooing away her clanmates, claiming young mom needs some space. Lots of space, actually. Since Ridgeback appeared at their lair, it became easily triple the old size thanks to her efforts.
- And that's it? We will just allow this to happen?!

- Onyxscale, it's your mom! Be nice! Mother scolded young male and his rebellious explosion got nipped in the bud. He hid behind the Coil instead, who tried really hard to not hear any advice from Gaou who apparently just decided his little boy already grew up and it's high time for certain talk and Brinkley, come on! Looks like we really need to find you that Imperial.
