_____As small child growing up, not much was thought of this young pickpocket. She managed to survive in between settlings by begging and stealing, and was more slippery than a freshly caught fish when cornered.
_____How this little thief made it into one of the most prestigious Arcane magic academies is still a mystery to most, mostly because they never think to ask. Being her sneaky self, Medea spent several years sneaking in and out of the institution to attend lectures and read from the library. How did she know how to read? Well perhaps ask her yourself, and imply that she was once illiterate.
_____It turns out she technically never actually formally enrolled to the academy, though she likely learned the most out of anyone who had ever attended it.

_____Her interest in the darker spectrum of magic however led her to be in bad terms with the academy. Medea did attempt to apply for enrollment (after three years of sneaking in) and was almost accepted. That was until she was reported performing blood magic and banned from the city. She pretended to flee, and continued sneaking in and out for another two years before leaving for good.
