Zarya is one of the stranger dragons to join Tanith's cause. Originally hailing from the Wyrmwound, the feral dragon had managed to not only fly into the Tangled Wood, she'd managed to snare herself within the moonglow brush.

Among the weeks of study and the bedrest of several dragons, they'd managed to determine that her mind was completely subsumed by savage instinct. With a profane ritual, the mage Gaius had managed to somewhat stem the flow of madness by instilling her essence inside of a pearlcatcher's memory stone. Not only did this bring a semblance of her personality back, it had the unfortunate effect of creating an empathic link with her pearlcatcher, a meek thing of maiden years. When not on the hunt, she's a sarcastic thing who seems to enjoy poking holes at their more optimistic brethren.

A Primer on Berserkers...

Through some inscrutable method, Tanith has not only allowed, but encouraged Zarya to bring more "berserkers" under her wing. More often than not, they seem to be dragons from the Wyrmwound or the Tangled Wood who seem to share her thirst for battle. For this accursed brood, normal injuries don't seem to faze them much--open wounds oft end up festering if left unattended for too long. In the heat of battle, bloodshed is as much the goal for their duty as the reward. Thus, finesse is a job for which they are ill-equipped. Where Zarya and her berserkers fly, naught but fire and ash is expected to remain--and their handlers are not far behind.
