Introduction The biggest MANPERIAL in the MENTIRE MANCAVE, MANLORD is the representative of the waves that crash against the rocks. He might have Light eyes, he might have the markings of a minstrel, but he doesn't care. He is the storm, he is the destructive tsunami, he is the rain that pelts until all bends and breaks and weathers underneath. These are the words cooed to him as a hatchling bred for this purpose, and they ring perpetually in his head. Normally, the dragons of the MAN-CAVE do not take to such philosophies, each believing themselves to be the very strongest; but MANLORD'S impressive size and even more impressive temper mean that his status as the Water dragon has been left thoroughly uncontested. That is, in retrospect, a rather glaring problem, and one the clan's deputy would have liked to have corrected earlier. MANLORD is the strongest, so he respects no-one, trusts no-one, and is indeed quite proud of this fact. He is not the lightning, but he is the thunder, the ferocious warning; he is the loose canon that stalks the frontiers of the clan's lands, while those prissy little Coatls and Spirals shiver and look away. He considers strength in his evaluations, and strength only - honeyed words are little use. Plenty have swayed him, sweet-talked him into shackles and sleep, but no dragon has ever beaten him in a fight, no dragon has ever come close to doing any of what this wild storm does. Whenever tourists come, and when great clan leaders come on official business, SLAUGHTERMELON is in the prized position, sprawled like a great furry rug at his clan leader's feet. After that come the other collected ELEMENTS, standing guard behind their leader. MANLORD is rarely seen at any but the most serious of events, however; as impressive and beautiful as the unfettered storm might be, no-one wants it at parties. Eventually, they don't want him at all. He leaves, the wild storm, gone as suddenly as he came. Sciencing wrote:
MANLORD wanders where he wants, and if where he wants is all the way to the Fortress of Ends then there he will wander. He wanders right into the still-hazy new territory of Clan Shard and builds a nest with a dragon so nearly his equal and opposite; this nest will produce two of the MANLIEST dragons ever seen in the Southern Icefield. Though the nest is somewhat inconveniently placed, most of Clan Shard recognise his staggering manliness and strength, and decide it wise not to question his methods. Only the clan's resident ghost, unintimidated by physical strength, maintains a steady stream of mild annoyances to ensure MANLORD's prompt return home.
-Sciencing, on MANLORD'S brief and manfortunate stay. He returns, to find his clan never missed him. In fact, they were quite relieved. Now it will take a price to make him leave... Skills MANLORD is a gigantic Imperial, and very much used to throwing his weight around. He is rarely seen as anything other than ridiculously intimidating; the dragon radiates confidence and strength in the extreme. He knows this very well, and is unafraid to stand up to anyone who dares defy him - no matter how many dragons are taking the other side. Though not the brightest crayon in the pack, MANLORD is a fighter near-unmatched. He does not have the intense stamina of a Coliseum-trained battler, but that is hardly needed in a draconic battle. The Imperial boasts that he can end any fight in under ten seconds, and though that might not necessarily be true, MANLORD is surprisingly fast for such a beast, always aiming to finish his opponent off quickly. And it usually is a finish, too - one of the few situations in which not knowing his own strength pays off. ...That's basically it, though. A strong, angry, loud, brute of a dragon, more suited to prehistoric times than anything resembling civilization. Personality As above: Loud and Angry. MANLORD rarely speaks, but when he does decide to use his very limited vocabulary, he rarely goes for anything that doesn't approach all-caps, if not bold text as well. He tends to slur his words, and swears liberally - even his way of talking has been gauged to be as offputting and intimidating as possible, never mind what he's saying. Despite all his talk about being an unstoppable doomforce or whatever, he's never actually mean to another dragon - unless they started it, of course. MANLORD is, in a sense, quite lost as to his place in life. He's never known a friend, but he wants one very badly - to the point where he's now refusing to leave his current lair unless a friend is provided for him in the new clan. Even though he feels that he has to be intimidating, and even though he boasts about how much he loves to fight... MANLORD fails to start fights with other dragons, because he doesn't want to be completely alone. He hopes that someday, the lack of violence between himself and another might make them immediately friends.  ^With thanks to Awaicu! |
