Sakurai was born in an Arcane clan, and grew up as a mage. For her whole childhood she was surrounded by - and practiced - magic. But then a few things got out of hand, and her life went downhill. Her magic began to have unintentional consequences, and she was banished from her clan, and then from the Arcane flight altogether. She left her life and her deity behind.

Thankfully, after stumbling into Light territory with a broken heart, she came across the Renzokuken Clan. They accepted her like family and she resumed her life as a member of Light. She was so desperate to make a fresh start that she even started forgetting some things from her past. But deep down she knew those memories, and the scars they had left, would never fade.

But once she had settled in to her new home, Sakurai could tell there were whispers about her and what had happened back in the Arcane flight. These whispers dug up grief she had managed to bury, and she drifted away again from her newfound friends. For almost a year she existed in agony, with rumours of her being a dark witch spreading like a disease behind her back.

But, once the curiosity of her clan-mates had subsided, Sakurai was able to drag herself out of the dark pit her life had become. She made friends again, and her grief shrank to a small pebble that she locked away in her mind. The mental scars which her old life had left were nothing but faint marks - they were healed. Sakurai promised herself she would never use magic again. She didn't.

Well, maybe once or twice.
