Biography

A bit of a tinkerer, Rollcage has always loved creating new and interesting things with just about everything he can find. Rocks, trees, magic, he can and will use anything to make something new or improve on an original when the mood hits. In particular, he is fond of building housing structures and architectural design, though his specialty is function over form. It might not look like the grandest nesting ground ever, but it'll sure hold you through any storm and keep your little ones safe.

In terms of a family, he'd always sought love and affection and a soul mate, but after courting several dragons in his younger years, he gave up the search and buried himself in his work. But the world is not all full of caring parents, life has taught him, and in his scavenging, one day came across a tiny fae baby. Now Rollcage, being of soft heart, couldn't leave her there out in the dangerous wilds to fend for herself, so he gathered her between his paws and took her home, where he cared for her and raised her. As he carried her to her new home, it had been nighttime, and the fields where he found her had been bathed in starlight, and she giggled and chirped so excitedly at all those little shining lights in the sky, he named her after the brightest star out there that they could see that night and called her Celestia.

He loved his little girl so, and she stayed by his side as she grew older, playful and curious about the world and its wonders, despite her terrible abandonment. But she was not the only little one he would find in his searches. When Celestia had just barely come into adulthood, they had gone searching for materials and came across another pup snared into a hunter's trap. The vine that held this little guardian's leg was wound tight, but he fought it viciously, squealing and growling so. It took some doing, but Rollcage and Celestia were finally able to convince the pup to calm long enough to be freed, and even more so to convince him to come back with them for tending. This young guardian dragon was full of courage and proved to be quite a little troublemaker, and he was named Bolt when the first thing to actually startle him was a strike of lightning during a rough storm.

It was a good thing, as it turned out, that Bolt had joined their small clan. By this time, Rollcage was beginning to show his age, though he still had a long life left ahead of him, and one day on a foraging hunt, he was attacked by a rogue dragon of the mirror breed and could not get away. But Bolt happened to be nearby, and now no longer a tiny bundle of energy with no real bite behind his bark, he rushed in without a thought to his own safety and fought the assailant off. Rollcage still bears the scars of that attack to this day, and Bolt has not let him go on a hunt alone since.

Now, after raising Bolt and the attack, Rollcage began to realize and begrudgingly accept the fact that he might be past his prime, and thus not quite fit to properly take on the responsibility of caring for his own clan. With the outcome of the attack fresh in mind, after a long and heated argument, Bolt made it clear he would not allow his sire to wander the plains alone. So Rollcage spoke to his clan, and the hard decision was made to speak to a neighboring clan, and soon thereafter, plans were made, conditions were settled, and Rollcage and his two pups joined Optimus's clan.

As they made their long journey to their new home, they decided to stop and rest at a river's end against the sea. There, they heard a heartwrenching wail coming from a nearby tree. They searched, and were shocked to find a little tundra pup dangling from one of its higher branches. But this was no trap that had been set by any hunter, no. This young one had been put here with cruel intent, and he had the injuries to prove it. Little Delta, as he was later named, never spoke of what happened to him to put him there. In fact, he would not speak for weeks, no matter how much coaxing or pleading Rollcage offered. After several hours, the three were finally able to calm the little one down enough to tend to his injuries as best they could, then brought him with them to their new home to rest and heal. Fortunately for them, Optimus was a gracious and understanding old dragon, and would not turn their newly found hatchling away, and so Rollcage kept Delta and raised him with the help of his own and their new clan.

Since joining Optimus's watch, Rollcage has found himself making use of his talents as a creator and has renewed his passion for the art again, helping to expand their nesting grounds and lair space, much to the older dragon's liking. It was here, in carrying out some of the work on one of his newest additions to their home, that Rollcage met with Gypsum, another tundra with a love for crafting and hunting materials. Their friendship began in that instant and over time, they have become near inseparable. Rollcage will even admit that Gypsum may be the soul mate he had once searched for in vain and thought he would never find. His pups would agree - they have never seen him happier.
